And the model (local 'food') pushes the real markets with real produce departments further away towards denser suburbs. So, in the long run, nearby folks have worse nutrition. "Food desert."
My wife never shops at dollar general or dollar tree for food.

The best thing that came out of Covid in my wife's eyes was ordering groceries online and having them ready for pick up.

Don't get me wrong, she'll still make a shopping run looking at picking up the stuff she wants to inspect for produce or perhaps meats or seafood (generally she orders those two categories online at specialty shops), but after her bout with breast cancer, food is something she's particular about.

Me? 3 mothers day cards yesterday at the shop my son use to work at. Under $4 for 3 cards (and they're Hallmark LOL). That or when I destroy some reading glasses, $1.25.

This is why I never shop at dollar general. Those two items are substantially higher. Reality is, you can generally get things cheaper if you take a drive and go somewhere else other than Dollar General in our opinion.

Ukuras family dollar owns dollar tree. In some locations they are combined in the same store. Everybody knocks Dollar General but in many rural small towns if there wasn't one it's a long drive to get snacks, soft drinks, eggs and milk.
Could you explain Ukuras family dollar?

A simple websearch of dollar tree doesn't mention the name "Ukuras", nor does a simple search of "Ukuras family dollar"

There is a "Ukura's big dollar" but they seemed based in Minnesota and have no relationship to dollar tree.

There are a couple of things I've learned from my wife over the years being married to her. One is to make the drive for the food you want not someplace closer on only what they have. Personally I don't see any savings myself on buying anything I'm looking for going to a Dollar General. To me, they bend people over because you're right, you don't have to drive as far.

Do people really buy that crap?
Honestly, my $1.25 glasses seem to work just as fine as the $200 one I bought at an optometrist and then proceeded to either lose or break (I forget which, but willing to bet lost);)

Lights, remote control, variable temperature, heated seat and blow dry....pure luxury.(y)
Honestly, it's the first time my toilet actually felt like my throne:ROFLMAO:

However, in all seriousness, because I still haven't gotten my shoulder replaced, it's an added bonus of not having to use toilet paper. Really something I never thought of when buying it (as noted, when looking at fixtures for our master bathroom remodel, fell in love with the heated seat LOL).

No they don't. I remember when Family Dollar got sold. It was between Dollar Tree and Dollar general.

Pretty sure completely two different companies.
We have Dollar General on one half of an open store and the other half is Dollar Tree. So someone owns something for them to coexist simultaneously altogether at once

Most likely sharing space due to money and location. Company wise, don't believe either one has to do anything with the other.

ANOTHER DOLLAR IN THE HOLLER.
Dollar general is ok when it first opens then they have stock sitting on carts from poor staffing. 1 person can't stock, clean, and run register. Another dollar in the holler.

Toilets of course!

Temp and blower control is on the back side...

Never thought I'd spend close to $500 for a toilet seat, but worth every penny IMO.
