I'm hoping that someone can assist or point me in the right direction. I just bought a used TG1860G with a 54" deck. The machine looks to have been well maintained. It starts up fine.

Here are the 2 problems.
1- Pressing on the brake doesn't stop the lawn tractor. In fact, the only way I can stop is if I apply reverse on the control pedal.

2-Engaging the mower via the switch is intermittent. Sometimes it takes several push/pulls on the switch to start the blades.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

From behind the tractor you will see the brake rod that goes from the brake pedal and attaches to a pivot at the back of the tractor that runs behind of the HST and then onto a little brake disc on the left side of the rear driveshaft. Where the rod connects to the pivot there are two nuts. Adjust them inward.

As for the PTO, I can't help you there.

While you are under there you may want to check the gearbox fluid as it is easy to miss.

Thanks for the info. I gave it a couple of turns inward and it seemed to help. I play around with the setting more this weekend.

Does the disc brake typically need to be replaced? Is there a recommended service interval, say 300 hours?

The brake pad looks to be fully metallic so it will probably last a long long time considering that I rarely use the brake during operation except when wanting to stop on a really steep grade (the hydro transmission controls the speed and stops the tractor in neutral) . You can see the brake pad if you look underneath, you may have to remove the rear top hydrostat cover for a better look. If you have any more questions feel free to message me privately as I don't always check in on the forum. This tractor is relatively new to me also and I'm learning everything I can about it.

Hi guys, just saw your post, I have the same machine, no problems with the brake or PTO, can't help you there. Bought it used three years ago with the snow blower and a 54" mower deck. Nice machine, it doesn't miss a beat! The boys (age 11 and 12) are coveting it now....

Just found this thread. I adjusted the bolt inward and it didn't make any difference. If anything it seemed to get worse. I looked at the opposite side for the brake pad you guys mentioned, but I'm not sure what that might be. I know this thread is really old, but hoping that you guys might still be tuned in.

Okay, so I know where the assembly is now. I'll just take that apart to look it over. I'm guessing that I'll have to buy a new pad to make it work.
