If you are in Texas and own equipment please do yourself a favor and look into this Texas DPS sponsored program.

Welcome to TRIP. This program is designed for owners of both commercial and farm grade equipment to enter specific information regarding their property into a database that will be utilized by law enforcement personnel in tracking stolen equipment. Registration is Free!

Click here to access the TRIP system.

PUBLIC SERVICE
According to TCIC, in the year 2000, 784 pieces of commercial equipment were stolen and 801 pieces of farm equipment. 2001 reflected 788 pieces of commercial equipment and 1063 pieces of farm equipment stolen. Therefore, with equipment theft on the rise, it was necessary for the Department to implement a program that would assist in the recovery of these items.

TYPES OF EQUIPMENT
Types of Equipment that are eligible for the TRIP must meet three criteria.
Grade: Commercial or Farm Grade.
Style: Vehicle must have permanent wheels or tracks.
PIN: Equipment must have a manufacturer Property Identification Number (PIN).

Non-commercial grade vehicles may be eligible under the Help End Auto Theft (H.E.A.T.) program.

To late - that information is already in the dealer's data base.

I called a dealer (not the one I bought it from) with a question about my tractor. He asked for the serial number, then told me where I bought it, where the ranch is, etc. Needless to say I was surprised!
