Texas rains, don't this beat all

Me, too, I guess. My project's not as big and serious as the ones you guys are doing, but my contractor was supposed to start this week to put vinyl and/or aluminum on all exterior wood (fascia, soffits, in the entryway, ceiling of the breezeway, around the garage door, etc.) so there'd be no exterior painting to ever be done. I haven't heard from him, but I wouldn't want him out there wading around in this swamp anyway.

My little piece of heaven (read that Texas) ended the month of May with 15.4" of rain. My stock tanks will be full for a long time with all that water leaching out of the hills.

You got a lot more than my 8.3", but we did get another .37" during the night last night. The guy started on our siding yesterday, said he'd be back today if it didn't rain.:(

Horror of horrors! My garden has weeds, and I can't get in to dig them up.

Sheesh! Just when it was drying out enough for me to get into the garden, we got another 0.4" of rain. I can't catch a break... When I take time off from work it rains and it rains on weekends when I work normal hours.

Oh well...I guess I'll just stay inside and snap the 40 lb of beans we picked a couple of nights ago.:p

flooded ..... went to Iowa over Memorial day weekend to see my Mother of 84 yrs... returned home to a flooded house. Water marks on the walls said it had about 18" of water in it. Anything lightweight floated around. We found shoes in rooms down the hall. (last Tues) we were here for Wed - just long enough to hire a team to clean up .. then left early Thurs for Ontario, Canada to retrieve a 5 yr old grandson that we will be raising from now on. The cleanup crew removed everything from 4 feet down - all sheetrock, cabinets, -- whatever. We are presently staying at a neighbors but will have to find other digs soon. We rented an apartment but it won't be available until Jul 6.
When it rains it pours? I guess it did on us. Office said we got 10" in 2 hours so it didn't have time to runoff and the ground was already saturated. Gonna be a busy 6 months or so.

OUCH! I had no idea you guys down that way had that much rain. I guess I just didn't pay attention to the weather. So sorry...let us know if we can help in any way Mike. As if you didn't already have enough to worry with, now there is this. It seems if the hurricane doesn't get you, something else will. My little whining is so insignificant...

Yep, Mike, if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. I'm sorry to say it sounds as if you have enough problems for one summer.

I know how you feel Mike, been there twice in Houston. 10" two hours, there is no way to escape the flood with that kind of rainfall in the flatlands. Let us know if we can help.

thanks guys but there isn't much anybody can help with. I brought my trailer down here on Sun and hopefully today can build some sides on it and start moving stuff to S"ville. The storage unit I rented here will take whatever we'll keep in the apartment - everything else goes home to the barn. I was going to retire in Jan 2010 ... this may just push me up 2 years. I've been here in the gulf basin for 15 years and never enjoyed it .... maybe it's just time to go home.

We had a storm come through here Friday night that droped 2 1/2 inches in a few hours. Massive thunder that shook the house and all sorts of lightning!!! It was pretty intense and allot of fun, but what's interesting is that just 30 minutes away, it never rained at all.
