Texas rains, don't this beat all

Eddie - - I was on I-20 Friday when I experienced my 2nd dusk of the day around Kilgore/Longview. It's really hard to see on an interstate when the 18 wheelersahead of you are kicking up a ton of spray - - even after the hard rain has let up.
I know your area a little. I was born in Kilgore & lived there till I was about 12-13. Nice area.
Bird - - those ribs & rolls do sound pretty good. Hope you have a covered patio to do your smoking.
The 50th came off without a hitch, except the bottom dropped out of a thunderstorm right at 7 PM - - didn't last long though. There must have been 200+ people show up. I'm not sure I even know that many people, much less folks that will show up in nasty weather. All & all it was a good event.

It was a flying trip - - Got back home late this afternoon & immediately began watering my yard & garden. Wish ya'll would share some of that precip.

Yep, got a 12' x 22' breezeway between the house and shop, all under one roof, so my water smoker and my grill are there.

And you say the bottom dropped out at 7 P.M.? Our rain started at 7 a.m., but was mostly a fairly light steady rain that ended around 11:30 a.m. and only put about .7" in my rain gauge.

Yep, I'm near deaf without my hearing aids, so storms don't bother me at night when I'm asleep, but I woke once last night and noticed lots of lightning, and I just now went out and dumped 3.1" of rain out of my gauge. I'm not sure how long the power was off, but my computer was shut down and I had to reset the clocks in the microwave and coffee pot this morning.

Hard to say what the total is, Jack, because it's raining here now so the total is constantly changing. But as of this morning, it's rained on 7 days this month for 7.52" at my house.

As I'm sitting here in Garland, TX reading about the Texas rain, it started raining outside. After the past few years, I can't say that I'll ever complain about too much rain again. I was beginning to wonder if this area would ever start receiving rain again.

Well, enough's enough. I decided to put a stop to this rain . . . I bought flood insurance. Unfortunately, unlike most insurance, flood insurance doesn't go into effect for 30 days, so it may continue to rain another 30 days, but then I figure it'll probably never rain again in Denton County.

Flood insurance - - not a bad move. I had flood insurance when I lived in New Orleans - - thank goodness I never needed it. When I moved to the country 14 years ago, the 1st mortgage company I talked to required it to get financing. Guess they were used to New Orleans properties. I shopped around and found company that would finance me w/o that insurance. My place is close to 200' above sea level & I'm pretty sure I will not need it. I would not have been without it when I lived below sea level, but don't need it now.
Was the area that flooded in Ft. Worth flood prone? Is that an area where people had [or should have had] flood ins?
