Nice cool day today so I decided to play in the mud. All the way up to my seat!

I call it the "Old Tank" (we call ponds tanks out here) because it was the only one on the property when I bought it, besides the spring hole.

Jim I'm back to the house to shovel the sticky mud out and just checking TBN to see if you had an answer. Funny, both those suggestions I was thinking about - a big can of PAM would do. The gravel suggestion worked for about ten trips back on forth then I started slipping again, it may be time to get the guy down the road with a tracked Bobcat to help me out. :thumbsup:

Neither -- I'm going to store it in the barn apartment until such time that I want to reinstall it in the cabin. It's darn sure heavy! why -- you wanna buy it ---again? :confused2::laughing: I can show you how much the original owner paid for it .....

Mike, the cabin was built the same year that the stove was bought. 90 something. Since you saw the receipt I can't pull a fast one on you.

You should see how grey gumbo clay sticks in a hoe.
20 years ago I had the idea to buy a 6 inch wide hoe bucket to dig line trenches since my normal bucket makes such a wide ditch. My dealer said I would waste too much time digging and prying the goo from a 6 inch bucket.
I'm glad I didn't buy one after prying and chipping the stuck stuff out of my regular bucket a number of times over the years.
I have what they call a landscape bucket, these days, on my old
ford FEL. I think 20 years ago they called it a dual purpose manure bucket. What ever it's called it has a flat bottom and short sides. The bottom of the bucket comes off leaving big heavy forks for digging manure or hauling trees but with the bottom on it does a great job of leveling dirt and digging and hauling it without the dirt and muck getting stuck. * most of the time*
With the big flat bottom it is great for hauling and stacking rolls of hay.
I really prefer it over the standard bathtub shaped bucket on the new holland.

And I was grown before I ever heard anyone use the word "pond" in normal conversation. Everyone had a tank or two, but ponds were just something in those danged poetry books at school.:laughing: Although I think there were a few rich folks who had "fish ponds" for goldfish in their backyards.

A pond is a hole in the dirt and a tank is metal or concrete if you want the official facts.

As far as a "tank" when I was a kid in Arkansas, we called a spring fed water hole a pond, drain fed where "tanks". I have been in Texas so long a pond sounds "cute" and I guess the movie " On Golden Pond" would have sounded funny as " on Golden Tank" that would have made a good name for an old war movie though

When I went into the military, I always used tank, but had to constantly define what a tank is. Of course, most everyone not from Texas said, "Oh, you mean a pond." So after awhile, I just changed to the point that now I say pond rather than tank.

It was training. Our new "Large Brush Truck" was bought with a grant from the Texas Forest Service and proceeds from our annual VFD Fish Fry. The Freightliner chassis is equipped with a 1500 gallon water tank and a 20 gallon foam tank. A 350 GPM Hale pump with a 34 HP BS Diesel motor supplies the various hand lines - 2 pre connect 1 1/2", 2 mid mount whip lines, one rear mount hose line and a front bumper nozzle with a remote control joy- stick in the cab. The new truck will be used as the primary attack truck on structural fires and large brush fires as well as supplying the smaller brush trucks with water. It is not 4WD, because of the weight, so we figured we could save 20k and stay on county and private roads. We have 3 - 4WD pick-ups for pasture, wild land use.

With this truck we finally can supply 2- 1 1/2" lines, the minimum I like for an interior fire attack.

I was raised hearing the word, "stock" in front of "tank". We would go fishin' in the stock tank, creek, or lake. Metal tanks are water troughs.
