Here it is a beautiful, clear, sunny day, but windy . . . and our electricity went off at 11:30 a.m. I called Oncor's automated outage reporting number at 11:35 a.m. and the recording said a work order had been issued, crews were working to restore power as quickly as possible, and it's estimated to be restored by 2 p.m. Confirmation number is 91. The power came back on at 11:40 a.m. (just off 10 minutes this time). The recording always says the same thing and I always get the same confirmation number; only the estimated time of restoration is different at different times.

Same confirmation number each time???

Sounds like they have you on their radar.

A little over .30 here and no power outages:thumbsup:

The wind is a PITA, I can take and enjoy the cool air, but could do without 30 mph breeze. What is amazing to me about the Oak trees I have is the amount of acorns falling, small though this year, I am still surprised that we even have any. Also amazing is the spurt of growth in the native vegetation since the 5" rain a week ago. I guess the grasses are going to give it one last "go" since they have some moisture.

At least now since it's cooler, I can think about firewood without as much discomfort as it was a month ago:D

Trees that lost their leaves are now budding out. Big mistake IMO. :confused2:

The nicest rain we've had in a long time, 1 1/8 inch started here about 3am. Now we've had lots of wind all day long, but the cool weather is nice.

Yep, last year I learned that the confirmation number they were giving me was my account number. But this year . . . I have no idea where that "91" came from but it's the same every time.

Maybe it will become "92" after your next birthday? :D

I don't know Bird, there are several things to consider:
1. The shooter was watching for the thief, it was planed, the plan could have been made without deadly force. Camera, block-in the truck, etc.
2. The trespasser never displayed aggressive behavior only tried to escape.
3. This was not is a residence, it was in a cow field, where ones security is not as threatened.

I'd say the shooter better take the D. A.'s deal.

If it had been in a house at night and the shooter was awaken then too bad for the thief.

I remember the post and thinking since the thief was leaving the scene and posing no threat, that there may be a problem. You never know with these story's all the "hidden" details, so it's hard to comment outside of whats reported.

I agree, with this info he best take any deal he can get, I think maybe the guy was pushing the envelope on the "Castle Doctrine".

BTW, 44* at the house, burned our first fire YEAH!

Also the fact the shooter rigged the round bales so they could not be picked up was not very smart. No theft could occur, trespassing would be the best charge for the thief. If a bale had been allowed to be taken at least jail time would be involved for the theft - Class B misdemeanor - up to 180 days in jail and or $2000.00 fine.

My wife slept late, just got up and turned on the TV on the Channel 4 news and they were talking about the upcoming world series. So my wife said to me, "It's 45 degrees in St. Louis" as if that was really different. I told her it was 43 here when I got up and 45 now.

41 degrees here this morning and I'm thinking I should cover my tomato plants with plastic tonight in case of frost in the morning. My forecast at the NWS is for 41 degrees, but I think I'll sleep better knowing my tomatoes are protected.

I think you're right, Jim. The NWS is forecasting 39 with patchy frost for Denton tonight.
