I word to the wise.. Don’t cut across a wet hay field,, no matter how many cuss words you know it will not pull itself out,, yes it is four wheel drive.. But it high centered and it is a long walk back to the barn with muddy boots.. When you get to barn the frustration is gone cause all you want is a cold drink of water and a place to set. I would have fired myself if I had someone to replace me.. smile.. I will get it out tomorrow..Lou67

Reminds me of some buddies of mine from the city that I go Pheasant hunting with every year in Perryton. Snow was covering plowed fields and thought it would be fun to drive through.... Learned real quick you never drive though a plowed field when wet.. Got 10' in and sunk to the axles..

Robby,, I would have had to walk another ten feet to the ice chest,, the water was there by a hay bale.. Don't know how old that bottle of water was,, but it hit the spot..

Reminds me of some buddies of mine from the city that I go Pheasant hunting with every year in Perryton. Snow was covering plowed fields and thought it would be fun to drive through.... Learned real quick you never drive though a plowed field when wet.. Got 10' in and sunk to the axles..

The problem C4 is I knew better.. lol.. this field is going to get plowed,, in one spot for sure.. got some might deep ruts..

It was not pretty sight.. Don.. I was checking to see if it was dry enough to cut.. around the edges it is.. but not in the center.. it's going to take a week to dry.. I have got more rain in the last two months than I have got in the last three years.. But not complaining.. :thumbsup:

Mikim, Just went to Paige TX's new restaurant on Old Hwy. 21. Woody's ice house sold to Bastrop's Roadhouse now there's a restaurant just 20 minutes from me. They were crowded just like the Roadhouse in Bastrop and with the same same menu. Since it's not visible from the road way and there is just a little sign on the bottom of Woody's sign, the crowd surprised me, but at least it does not feel cramped like the Bastrop Roadhouse. They have the same best black bean burger in Texas.

4th is on Thursday, good, low crowd day. I think I'll wait till you get a little closer before I make that reservation - remember Drew.

Mowing dove weed is a nasty job, I've been putting it on the back burner for a few days. I got to get-er-done because the tractor does not fit in the tractor shed with the mover on and the yellow cat is getting upset. When the yellow cat gets upset she meows at the window in the middle of the night and to make up that sleep a afternoon nap is in order. Then after the nap I look at the tractor and the weeds and think I'll get-er done tomorrow. And the cycle continues.

Last night about 3:a.m. my wife saw a flashlight shine in the bedroom, heard someone say run, run, and then Whipper took off in a mad barking run. After a thorough investigation, it was determined, yea you guessed it, it was the yellow cat, a wife's headache and Whipper just being Whipper.

The yellow cat is MIA this morning - there goes my incentive.

Edit: The cat was found sleeping on the Farmall in the tractor shed, I'd better get ready to mow.

Will have to try it...we seldom go out -- too far to Bastrop just for a meal. I was actually sorry to see Woody's close. They had that big back yard venue with stage -- guess the area is too short of big beer drinkers. I wasn't there half dozen times but it's a nice place none the less.

Speaking of Restaurants---There is quite a bit of excitement here in Wood County. Almost all East Texas towns have Dairy Queens & Sonics. The cause of the excitement is they are building a "Whataburger" in Mineola. Their Patty Melt is one of the best, along with their Breakfast selections(if you can't find a good Mom & Pop Breakfast place).

Funny how the trail of ramifications leads us to not getting things done. Especially for me.

We tried the other Paige restaurant on 290 about a year ago. I can't handle cigarette smoke while I'm eating. Haven't been back. I was thinking it was a state law here nowadays about not smoking in an eatery? Will have to try the new roadhouse. The other was always crowded when we went past.

edit: you posted while I was typing Kyle, It's non-smoking now, even the bar and pool areas. They still serve all the beers including 12 types of keg beer. Lot's of families were there and the ice house feel is still there but the cliental has changed.


Charlie, it seems like Mineola (is that a mining town in Spanish) has skipped one hamburger joint in it's progression. It's usually a Dairy Queen, McDonald's, Sonics, Whataburger, Wendy's, Jack-in -the -box.

We have a Roadhouse in Conroe. They have free peanuts and you suppose to put the shells on the floor. Awesome atmosphere..................when the waiting line isn't out the door. No reservations here.

I assume you're talking about the Texas Roadhouse and we have several in this area with the closest one about 3 miles north of us. We haven't been there in a couple of years, but it was pretty good and pretty busy, but no waiting line.

Brandi the "Texas Roadhouse" is a different animal from "The Roadhouse". The Roadhouse is now a chain of two and no peanuts. Reservations are also not required and you seat yourself.

Texas Roadhouse has some good food, but you have to wear earplugs and text the person you're sitting next to because it averages about 140 decibels.

Yes Bird. Thank you for correcting me. It is a Texas Roadhouse in Conroe. Yes it is loud. They also do catering.
