All of the talk about goats, reminded me of a poem in a book of limericks that I read a few years ago.

Mary had a little lamb
It's name was Little Mutton
When it wagged it's little tail
Out popped a mutton button!

Okay FG,, I will take the bait.. .here goes

Mary had a little lamb
His name was Milton
When fried up
He tasted a lot like chicken.
When Mary set down
She said where is Milton?
Mommy smiled and said
Another piece of fried chicken?
Because mommy didn't have the heart
To tell Mary "that wasn't that smart"
That little Milton was dead
Got ran over by a flatbed
Hauling beer to Lou:drink:
And tomorrow we will have rabbit stew
Because rabbit tastes a lot like chicken
But then again so did Milton..

Bird, I would never change only one wire myself, same with plugs. I do know OEM are at inflated prices ( at the dealer) and there are allot of equal or better alternatives.

EDIT: Bird, on my GMC diesel 1 ton, I go through the passengers side wheel well to change the fuel filter. It is a pain, but saves me over $130!

I generally agree, Dennis, that there are frequently equal or better alternatives, but I'm not so sure on this. And I'd like to just keep everything original on the old Ranger. With 104k miles, it never needs oil added between changes at 5k miles, and there's no oil spots under it in my garage. Of course I did check the prices with one other garage; Christian Brothers Automotive and they were about the same. There's another company called City Garage that has a lot of locations. If you're a AAA member, AAA says they'll guarantee the work if you use City Garage. Once before when I thought Bill Utter's price might be high on something, I contacted City Garage, and nope couldn't beat Utter's price. Now of course if I were still doing things like that myself, it would definitely save money, but I'm not going to do that. And I used to know some small independent mechanics who probably would have done good work, and cheaper, but I don't know any of them around here.

And when I had a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner and had to change plugs at least every 12k miles, I found it much easier to get the back plug on the passenger side from underneath.

I'd heard and read about this a long time ago, but I think it only applies to the 5.4L V-8 in F150s.

Great picture. We had a great moon rise last night. Didn't get a pic as I was a little busy cooking Valentine Dinner for my Valentine. No waiting line here at Dinner Bell Ranch.

Couple of Big Rib-eyes, Baked potato, Mediterranean Salad, and Italian bread. Choice of Red or White Wine. She deserves the Royal Treatment.

Bird, I guess it is just a high Dollar item, just allot of $$. I will say, before I started building my shop. I took the vette in for oil changes and that drove me crazy:laughing: I would put cardboard under it to check for leaks and the $$ they charge was about $25 more than I could do it myself, but that car was "low"!

The link I posted above was because someone mentioned the 2 piece plugs, I have never heard of them.

Lou; Once again, your poem is fun, and a bit true to life! I have always enjoyed poetry, although I only come up with good ideas for it after several rounds with Jose Cuervo! Now, after those rounds, I usually fall asleep! So, I just enjoy reading it!

Dennis,, I have learn in all the years of ranching,, that you don't need a bull as long as your neighbors has a good one,, spend your time raise nice looking cows.. Lou

So this is where the saying "Shoot the Bull" came from. If your neighbor brings home a crappy bull. :)

Well it looks like a nice day for some good friends, golf, skeet, bbq and beer,, Will this nice weather on the weekends ever end,:confused3:, I hope not,, been nice the last four weekends.. crappy in the middle but nice on the end.. Great advice,
but some what concerned about Jim's obsessive focus on "buds" Wonder what he's really growing at the "Rockin Anchor" Colorado and Washington State anthem "this buds for you".:D

Dennis, I've never smoked bluebonnet buds, but I'll save you a few if you want to try them.:D

Charlie, we had thick rib-eyes too last night. I grilled them up and they were perfect. About mid afternoon, I rubbed them down with sea salt and grilled them 5 minutes per side. I got some flame-up off the drippings that seared them perfectly. Those steaks with some small baked potatoes, rolls, and salad made a huge meal for me since yesterday was my day after chemo and my appetite suffers greatly. I could only eat about half of my steak, but it will warm up nicely in my toaster oven when I'm ready for the rest.

We buy thick rib-eyes from Sam's, and they always seem to be delicious, juicy and tender.

That's where we get ours, too. But a couple of months ago, we were at Fischer's in Muenster and they had ribeyes on sale; cheaper than Sam's Club. Now we've always been happy with everything we got at Fischer's, so I got 6 of those ribeyes. Now I know why they were on sale. I'll stick with Sam's Club from now on.

Dennis, we paid $8.98 per lb at Sam's for the last one's we bought. We try not to dwell on the cost. I assure you they are cheaper and better than the one's at Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes in Decatur.:)

And what's it been . . a couple of months ago, or more, when they went up from $7.98 to $8.98? Anyway, they were still $8.98 this morning.

Speaking of pork . . . last night for supper, we had the fully cooked, smoked pork chops from Fischer's. They're different and quite tasty.
