Water is absolutely necessary. The RDF will be more than replentished with taxes from the O&G severance tax. Costs of theses large scale water projects will only increase the longer they are delayed.

Oh boy! More taxes! Just what we want in Texas. Maybe we can become like other states.

Rain (finally) began last night, and I ended up with 3/4" in the gauge! My ryegrass is going to be VERY happy!

Don, my ponds did not fill, but they sure came up some with that heavy rainfall and runoff. I'm gonna call it 1.4" here. By Wednesday, we are supposed to have even more showers that could be heavier. I've waited and waited for my new ponds to fill and overflow. Wouldn't it be a hoot if I got my wish before Thanksgiving?

We never had any hail at all from the storms, but I feel a bit sorry for the Sunset VFD trying to have their barbecue dinner and cake auction last night. My wife went right before 6 PM and the rain had not started. They had everything set up inside, so maybe they got it all in. We got to watch the rain, eat our bbq dinner at home, and watch the wacky World Series game from St. Louis.

How bout the way that game ended? Too bad Bird missed it. Of course it doesn't amount to a hill of beans cuz the Rangers aren't in it:irked::irked:

Yep, I'm sorry I missed that, but I read a little about it this morning.

We got a line of showers a few hours ago - 1.4"!!!!! My refurbished sand/clay road on the side of the hill has only minor erosion.

and I got less than a 1/2" here just 15 mi south....it was enough though to make weeding the aspargus bed easier....wife says we might even get some cuttings from it a year earlier than expected. Need to finish building the rest of the garden before spring so she can grow stuff.

Rained most of the morning. A little over 1 1/2" by noon. Small tank full and overflowing into big tank. Ground is saturated so will a lot more flowing to both tanks.

I only got .37, I was sure Jim was getting a good dose. The storms just moved over North of me most of the time until the last band blew through. Maybe latter in the week I will get more.

Here's the progress of the white faced hornet nest on the peak of our house as of a few minutes ago.
They are still active but not near as much as when it was hot.
Looks like some over anxious bird was trying to get to the comb already. Not too smart.

So how big will you let it get?

Drove to Austin and then Marble Falls with my Daughter and Granddaughter yesterday. Brenham and Giddings area ponds looked full. Marble Falls got a little shower last night and some sprinkles on us this morning. Left Austin at 2 this afternoon and the ponds in the Brenham and Navasota area were overflowing. Bottom lands had standing water. Got home around 5 to see my small pond 8 inches from overflow and the island pond about 2 feet from overflow with 2 inches in the rain gage.10-27-13 Chloe Smiling Pumpkin Doodle.jpg

That is entirely up to the hornets.
As long as you don't mess with them, they don't mess with you.
Nature keeps control. The weather is getting cold and after a couple freezes
they will be dead. The problem is the location for getting all the stuck paper
off the house. One of our deer hunters promised on Musket weekend to get up there and remove
it when they come back for regular season. The birds will probably rip it apart in the meantime.

well, good luck. It's been very interesting watching and reading your documentation of their nest building.

We got 1.5 inches. Missed most of the Cowboys game with a horse with colic. She seems to be fine now.
