WOW!!!! That's amazing. A lot more then I was expecting. I hate snow, but I always want to see it, then wish it never happened.

Eddie

Eddie,
Snow is to play in and look at.................that is all.

You forgot that it's great for taking pictures of!!!! I'm not a fan of playing in it, but I do like to look at it if I can take some pictures. Temps are still in the mid 40's here, but the rader shows a very strong line of green for rain and blue for snow, working it's way here. I just hope it happens before dark so I can take pictures today and not be late for work tomorrow, because if I don't get them today and its on the ground tomorrow, I'm going to take pictures before leaving for work!!!

Our patio is 12' wide from the back door of the house to the door on the shop (east to west). But it's 22' long, plus a 2' step on either end (north to south) and the rain and snow has blown all the way through there. So to walk that 12' into the shop is a very slick and dangerous undertaking.

It just quit snowing here a few minutes ago. I see the official temperature is 27, but it's cooler than that at my house.

Oscar is enjoying the snow!!!

Eddie

Nice pic. We had some snow here a few days ago. Got around an inch of the white stuff. Though it's about gone now. We were supposed to get nearly 3 inches today. But only got a light dusting and it didn't stick.

I used to love the snow when I was a kid, but now the novelty of it has worn off and I am glad when it's gone. Though it is pretty.

East of Austin...windy and cold but not so much as a drop of precip of any kind:mad:

We're at 18 degrees this morning. Glad I got the wood burning stove in a couple of months ago. We're on propane for heat and the bill was killing me this time last year! The furnace only comes on once an hour or so now...MUCH better!

I burned up a bunch of firewood yesterday. This morning it is 18 F and windy here. The forecast for us said it could get as low as 12 F, but it never made it down quite that far overnight. My grandson was thrilled with the snow and white Christmas. Between playing in the snow and playing with his new Wii U he got for Christmas, he is one happy kid. To prepare for the storm, I knew I'd burn much more wood than I could put into my firewood box on my deck, so I filled up the bed of the Mule and backed it under the deck near to my basement door. I thought the deck would provide cover to some degree. As Bird mentioned, the snow was blowing everywhere, and my firewood was getting covered even in the Mule. I ended up having to put a tarp over it to keep it dry. That worked great and all I had to do was haul up a couple of big loads to my 2nd floor fireplace.

I don't know how much total precip we got, but I'm thinking probably less than 1/2" even with the snow. When things thaw out, maybe I'll get a more accurate reading, but my rain gage said 0.35" before filling with snow.

The sun looks blindingly bright on the snow this morning, and the gusting wind makes it feel colder than it is. My fireplace is going good, so we are in for another day of indoor enjoyment. I'm still not ready to go out shopping and looking for after Christmas bargains. This afternoon might be okay, but this morning things are still frozen solid here. At least we didn't get enough snow to have to plow my driveway.

Lost power for a spell yesterday, plenty of heat from the fireplace though!. Woke up to take the wife to work in the hummer this morning , digital thermometer said 14*... Slow going until almost to Weatherford, solid ice, accident scenes to numerous to count and still had morons driving 50 mph and passing us. 2 vehicles where through fences, one being a nice pipe railed fence.

Just over 1" of rain in the gauge and another inch of snow, so I will only get the total after the thaw. Very blessed for this amount of moisture, but could live without the ice.

Glad to see most everyone has made it through this little "mini" blizzard:thumbsup:

I brought my rain gauge in the house this morning and let it thaw. Then it had about 1.85" of water; very nice. I knew it was well over an inch of rain yesterday before the snow.

That is a respectable amount Bird, a big bonus for us, being so dry.

That's my biggest one day total since March 20, and now my December total is the biggest for the month since August. Total for the year is 28.06" with most of it coming in the first half of the year. January was the wettest month with 6.10" so I guess we can hope for that again.

So you are about 9" below average for the year?
Our total average precipitation up here is 37", same as yours. We had a total drought all summer with no rain for 3 months but if we get the
snow that is predicted for the rest of the week we will be about average again.
Just shows that yearly averages don't mean much when it comes to growing crops.

Jim, I hope your after Christmas shopping was better than mine. I could not find any lights in 4 different stores. I just bought a light tester for 1/2 price. The house inside temp has finally fallen below 65˚ so today will be the first day to start the wood burning stove. No rain here for the last week.
