We got 2/10" this morning. My bluebonnets got a drink, but no refill for their canteen. At least my hose-draggin' has been delayed.:thumbsup:

Bird: I really like the Gilmour hoses. I have several and they are terrific. I bought two 75' x 3/4" PVC hoses last year. They kink really badly, but I needed something big to use for long hose runs and I really don't want to pay a fortune for hoses I only use some of the time. I need to get a couple more of the 75' Gilmours; maybe next spring.

it was 75 degrees and intermittently raining during my 6 mile run this evening but as soon as I finished a blast of cool from the North hit at 5:40PM. We got about 1/4". Now it is 67 degrees.

Charlie, that was fortunate! I had in the ballpark as Bird and Jim got, enough to wet the ground some.

This morning it is 35*, not the arctic North, but considering I've been hunting in a "T" shirt over the weekend.....in November

26* here and a fire going! Took a "cull" buck last night, so I get to deal with that today and couldn't have asked for better weather/temps.

Certainly not a "trophy", but a 6 pnt at 3-4-1/2 yoa or so. Don't know why I try to "manage" the deer on such a small acreage, I guess I'm just used to it after having more land. May try to get a better photo today, best I could do on a cell, deer looks "longer" than he was, pretty solid, blocky buck.

Congratulations Dennis! That looks like a lot of good eatin' there. You couldn't ask for better weather to dress him out. It was 24.1 F and a heavy white frost here this morning.

I have to agree about the cholesterol, but it's less than pork or beef.

No and yes and not by enough to make a difference. If you just took one bite more of any meat you would consume more cholesterol than any other meat of like proportion.
(Unfortunately I have become an expert.)

A 3 oz. serving of venison 67mg cholesterol
A 3 oz. serving of broiled beef sirloin steak contains 70 mg of cholesterol, slightly more than in the same serving of broiled venison.
A 3 oz serving of broiled pork chops contains 61 mg of cholesterol, slightly less than in venison.
A 3 oz serving of roasted skinless chicken breast contains 72 mg of cholesterol
A 3 oz serving of roasted skinless turkey contains 65 mg of cholesterol
A 3 oz and a serving of bison contains 72 mg of cholesterol

note: A 3 oz serving is the size of a deck of cards.

Love'em, but they re loaded with Cholesterol!

Maybe hunting a deer, exercise and all considered, totals out less cholesterol with venison:laughing: I'm just looking for a "work-around"

. . . I was thinkin' of a half-dozen of my smoked ribs covered in BBQ sauce and maybe a bacon wrapped roasted chicken breast.:licking: I'm very particular where I get my cholesterol.

Besides, they say those statins I take for cholesterol also reduce my chances of cancer. My drinking coffee and lots of red wine is also good for me. I read it on the daggum internet, so it must be true. . . Okay, now back to reality.:laughing:

Dennis, Dennis, Dennis, That is for straight up meat. Once you fry it in animal oils it goes up considerably. Fried pies (using vegetable oil, and no meat or animal fat in the filling or dough) have no cholesterol. Don't get saturated fat confused with cholesterol. Coconut oil has 12gm of saturated fat per Tbs. but no cholesterol.

There are two types of cholesterol the kind from all animal products and the kind your liver makes.

Sorry, there is no work around. Thousands of people submit to voluntarily get cut in half for their bypass just like the deer involuntary do the same to feed the humans.

In the end the animals get us just like we got them.

Dennis this is a 4 minute video on oils (fats) that says it better than I ever could. The speaker is Caldwell Esselstyn Jr MD of Cleveland Clinic has shown heart disease can be reversed 100% of the time, using a plant-based diet. I have met and talk with him in person along with other specialist in reversing heart disease. They all agree and have many patients that have stopped and even reversed the plaque build-up in their coronary arteries. It also seems to be working for me, last night I had a good 7 mile run.

I know it's hard to believe, but once you are laying on table watching as a catheter is in your heart, changing diet is very minor, especially if your trying to prevent yourself from being cut open like that deer.

Don, I agree with you 1000%. I was raised on a "plant based diet", not that I have adhered to it over 50 years. Hindsight being 20/20, there are many ways to end up getting "cut open like a deer". Honesty my diet bluntly "sucks" just knowing how I was raised, but like many people the world over, you dont draw a line from A to B, until you have experienced something tragic as you have. I agree, prevention is the best "medicine".

BTW, I admire your passion and your willingness to "sound the alarm", even though there are many types of great information about healthy diets (along with much controversy and changing recommendations with advancements in research) 1st hand experience is a "eye opener". There is far more "marketing" for unhealthy eating, by a HUGE margin.
