We never got more than a mist really, no measurable amount, no flurries or snow for that matter. Daytime temps stayed in the 40's, so not to bad. They say dry air will move in and temps will be "mild" so we'll see. I know my winter grasses look better than what grew in the Spring, hopefully the tempo will continue.

I remember,( I think it was 1980-81)? when it was almost 80* on Christmas day, been nice latley for me working nights outside, so I'm not complaining there, but some cold weather to cut down on the bug population would be nice. maybe it will be like last year, mild till the great ice/snow storm.

Dennis, I mowed my yard Tuesday and it needed it, too. I didn't figure I'd be doing any yard work at least for a few days since I had the surgery to iron out the wrinkles on my left eye retina this morning. And sure enough he said no bending over, no lifting, etc So I've got a great big bandage on my left eye that I'm not supposed to remove until I got see him again at 9 a.m. tomorrow. I was surprised he'd be working on a Saturday, and New Years Eve at that.

Is the wrinkle from a previous torn retina that was fixed with a laser?
I have one of those although my Dr. calls it a bump.

Ron, my cataract surgeon calls'em "wrinkles", the retina surgeon calls'em "film", and his paperwork at the surgery center calls'em "macular pucker", so your doctor's "bump" is new to me, but I'm not surprised.:laughing:
But to answer your question, no previous retina problem or repair. In August, I went for an annual eye exam by an optometrist. Now they'd told me the last two annual exams that I had cataracts, but not bad enough to do anything yet. Well, this year she says, "The cataracts have grown. I think you need to see a specialist. How do you feel about cataract surgery?" So I went to see an ophthalmologist. He said I had cataracts and he could fix that, but it wouldn't be as drastic an improvement as many people get because I had wrinkles on the retina. He said if you think of the eye as a camera, cataracts are a cloudy lens and the retina is the film. A new clear lens fixes that, but you still don't get a perfect picture if the film's wrinkled. So he sent me to this retina specialist in September who, after a thorough exam, said to get the cataracts fixed, then come back. So I had the left cataract done in Oct., the right one in Nov. then back to the retina specialist who did the left eye this morning.
No injuries as far as I know. I just knew that even though they insisted my spectacte prescription was right and good as it gets, my vision left a great deal to be desired.
So tomorrow I'll ask how long it's going to take for this left eye to completely heal, and then I reckon we'll do the right eye, and then probably get new spectacles, although I guess it's possible that I won't need them. Both of these guys say my vision stil won't be perfect because I have just a little bit of macular degeneration; not much, just a little.

Weather in TX has been great since we arrived on Wednesday. Yesterday we went to a local Soccer game. Sat in the bleachers in shirt sleeves and worked on my TX tan. 
Looks like good weather for rest of our trip to RGV tomorrow.

Ron has spent so much time in Texas that he says he's fixin' to do stuff, and he gets his groceries in a sack.
Bird, I have "spot's" of Winter rye that have invaded my yard that are tall, a PITA too, I try to keep it out in the pasture type ares. The patch on your eye would seem to make it hard to see the "Forrest for the trees " too! Are you sure you mowed YOUR lawn??
I was under the impression that the RGV dried up and blew away from reading on the Texas Hunting forums, the boys down there say the dry is past "critical"

When I saw that some Texans did not know what RGV meant I did a Google search. It came up with many hits that call RGV, Rio Grande Valley. It's lazy mans way of spelling.
