I was a little surprised to find they asked if you wanted gravy on your french fries when I was up in Canada, bu6t I think it's a fine idea. Very good eating.

The gravy at The Barbecue Inn is so good I'd almost put it on chocolate ice cream. :D

Well, since we are talking about food, I have to mention The Arlington Steak House on West Division Street in Arlington, TX. It is truly a hole-in-the-wall place that has been there forever. I think they have stayed in business by catering to the workers at the Arlington GM Assembly Plant. My brother used to go there regularly (he weighed about 385) when he was a forklift operator at the GM plant. The place had a CFS that was so big it had to be served on a platter with a huge portion of mashed potatoes and the most yellow gravy I've ever seen anywhere. My brother would embarrass me when I would go in there with him. He'd eat the biggest CFS he could get and then order dessert. They tolerated his wild fantasy stories and flirting with the waitresses.

The train tracks delivering parts and hauling away finished autos from the GM plant run about 30 ft from the backside of the restaurant. In the middle of a meal, a train would come by and the bedlam of sound and vibration inside the restaurant was maddening. A slow moving engine might sit behind the restaurant during your entire meal. You needed to know sign language to order a meal at those times or just point to what you wanted on the menu. There's no telling how many heart attacks that place has produced since it opened in 1931.;)

I've never eaten there but have seen that place. Have you ever been to Theo's in Grand Prairie?

I have driven by Theo's Drive-in a gazillion times since I lived in Grand Prairie from 1982 until I built my current house and moved in 2002. You are talking about the drive-in on E. Main rather than the Bar & Grill on NW 8th aren't you? I don't know why I never stopped at either one, but I've always heard good things about them.

Wasn't the one on E. Main there even in the late '50s? Seems it's been there as long as I can remember. Didn't even know the other one existed.

Just over an inch of rain last night. It was off and on, and when it was on, it came down pretty good. I'm hoping for as much runoff as I can get. My small pond is starting to look like a pond again, but Lake Marabou is still pretty sad. I really need to work on the rest of my water diversion projects and getting more water to there that is now running off the the highway.

There are two Theo's. Same owner. The Drive Inn has bern there longer (probably back to the 60's anyway, Bird) than the Bar & Grill but they are both good places to eat. Good catfish on Friday at the B&G. There was, for a time a few years ago, another Theo's on E. Main that was a chicken place. Never ate there. It's something else now.

You seem to get around quite a bit. Have you ever been to George's in Waco?
.

 Thats the part thay sucks about my job:D Havent eaten at Georges, I had a ranch North of Hico for a few years and was also in LE around there, so naturally I found the "good" food:thumbsup:

Dennis, I'm completely at a loss for what restaurant you are talking about unless you are confusing "Babe's" with "Bono's." Bono's is right beside a Catfish O'Harlies restaurant.QUOTE]

Jim, Bono's must be it then (what I get for speed'in by) Usually when i go by there it is dark and I'm headed North.

You guy's see the storm in the Panhandle on ito Oklahoma? 6 fatalities last I heard around Amarillo, glad we missed that. Maybe nice to get a "little" Saturday night for the kiddo's though.

Speaking of food, did anybody get a deer yet? I'm only seeing a few does and small bucks. I've never seen a deer with a busted antler here before, but this year, I have three that I'm sure of from my game camera pics. One was a fair 9 point that became an 8 point two hours later in my game cam pics.

Eddie, my neighbor, Mike, got a 8-pt buck on the first day of deer season. It wasn't a huge deer, of course, but he also harvested two does on later days. The other five hunters on that lease decided to wait for bigger bucks. Since the first day, they have seen no bucks at all. It seems that the bucks got spooked and are staying in heavy cover and only coming into the open at night. They see several does, but no bucks. We've had several at our feeder, but we don't hunt here and they probably feel safer around here.

I shot a 9 second week, nothing huge, but legal. 1st Whitetail I've shot in 3-4 years.

Finally saw the lake level report (Thanks Mr Delcus) Whitney still 16' low!

I think Bridgeport was like 8' low. Seems the average I saw was around 6' low still.

Dennis, I saw Pete Delkus's report night before last, but I thought he said Lake Bridgeport was 12' low. I think maybe Eagle Mountain is -8' down, but I'm almost certain that Bridgeport was into a double digit depth deficit.;)

2" just got dumped here last night, where did that come from? ...... Oh yea, I just poured some cement yesterday evening. Dried just long enough, no damage, whew!

I like the Texas Water Development Board website to see the lake levels just about anywhere in the state. Of course, I have no personal knowledge of their accuracy and reliability, but they seem to me to be about right.

Bird, I'm convinced that you have an un-natural attraction to spreadsheets.;)

The levels according to that spreadsheet show Lake Bridgeport to be -13' and Eagle Mountain to be -6'. That's very close to what I think I saw reported.

Don: I was thinking about you Central TX folks last night as they showed that storm moving across. I'm really happy to hear you got some good rainfall. It may be too little, too late for many of your trees, but winter grain crops and the trees that survived the drought will surely benefit from a good shower like that one.
