Yep, that was a great game last night ....... unless you’re a Yankees fan.

My maternal grandfather, from whom I got my first name, was an avid baseball fan. I remember him listening to baseball games on the radio when I was a kid. But the only team names I recall from those days were the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers (yeah, I know, the Dodgers later moved). So I was kind of hoping it would be the Yankees vs Dodgers this time; one team from each coast.

I have been waiting for this ever since I went to a Colt 45's game.

I did not make it to a Colt .45's game, but I did go to some $1 game, cheap outfield seats in the Dome.
Saw them play the Padres and the Reds around '69.

3 of my favorite Astros have passed. JR Richards, Darryl Kile and Ken Caminiti.

Jim Wynn and Caesar Cedeno were 2 of the best.

One thing I've noticed in life is, if you can get a woman interested in a baseball team and the small innuendos of the game, you will have 1 of the biggest fans out there.

Right after the Dome was built my Dad took me to a game there and I got a souvenir batting helmet with the ‘new’ Astros logo. A few weeks later they were doing promotional visits around town and stopped at a bank in our neighborhood. I was able to get my batting helmet signed by Bob Aspromonte.

Wish I still had that helmet.

This is no lie. My wife and I are first and foremost huge Texas Rangers fans. I like the Astros too and they’re my second favorite team. But after my wife’s dad passed away in 2010 baseball became a “getaway”. Wife turned out to be a diehard fan passing me up. Our Rangers started slipping this year but awesome season for the Astros.

My took me and I took my kids alot to the Dome's center field cheap seats. Parking was more than the seats.

I miss the good times at the Dome during Rodeo.

I showed wethers and rabbits at the Houston Livestock show. Each year, us larger animal exhibitors were there for about 5-6 days. You can bet we figured out ways to get into the rodeo free. Back when the concert was in the middle and bull riding was last, you could walk in for free after the concert.

Don,
Did you sleep thou the 2005 season?:confused3:
hugs, Brandi
Oh, I should have said I gave up on them when as the Colt 45's they did not play in the world series. I've slept through their seasons since.

I've never considered myself to be any great sports fan, but we did go to a few Rangers games 30 or so years ago. But my wife might be a bit like yours; she's been glued to the TV for all the Rangers games this year.

I’ve always been lucky enough to have a good contact on a committee or as a BBQ sponsor. They’ve cut back on the freebies for committee members though. Years ago the firm I was working for sponsored something and I wound up on a committee. It was a lot of fun.

I used to be a huge baseball fan. Played all day, listened to the games at night on my transistor radio. Even kept score.

The games got slower and slower, and I lost interest. Don't have 3+ hours to devote to a game. And the season is too long. If they sped up the game and shortened down the regular season, I would go back to it.

Major League Baseball (MLB) network has condensed the games down to two hour time slots. Channel 213 on Direct TV. I hate the condensed games. After the Astros, my favorite team is the Cubs. I gave up watching the Cubs-Dodger playoff series because I could not follow the game the way I like, pitch by pitch. When tired, I have been know to fast forward my DVR between pitches.

I like pitch by pitch, but it's the antics between pitches that drives me crazy. Used to be the catcher would throw the ball back to the pitcher, and within 10 seconds, next pitch. Now the batter has to step out, then the pitcher has to walk the mound, then the batter steps out again.
