Yeah, it's cold; 32 with a forecast for 18 tonight, and with a pretty strong north wind all day, it's not comfortable to stay out long.

We are still above freezing here, 39˚, after sunset but a strong North wind is still blowing and we are heading for a low of 24˚. I just started a fire in the WBS.

Well winter time,, here on the coast.. The weather man said,, lol.. six hours below freezing.. So with that information,, I went to the land/ranch and drained all the water piping.. in the barn, garden area.. just in case.. I don’t think it would freeze in six hours.. but if I am wrong that is a lot of pvc coupling.. short runs.. most overhead.. only took me hour to drain and blow the piping..

I don't know if FG is staying warm. I do know I am not. I have been helping a friend change his engine in his F250. Make that...........my friend is helping me change his engine. Since he is a cook by profession, and I have removed and replaced a 300 six cylinder before in my 1985 F250, I'm the one leading on this project. I got it timed late yesterday afternoon.

We picked up the junk yard engine a week ago Tuesday. It took two days to get everything ready for my Big RED Beast to hoist it out, along with a come-a-long. But my tilt cylinder bleeds down too much with that much weight out on the end of 42 inch forks, for such a delicate operation. So we had to wait until Friday to rent an engine hoist. We were installing an engine out of a 1995 F150 to put in Brady's 1989 F250. So everything had to be changed, but the fuel nozzles and a few accessories. It took us two days to swap the engine wiring harness and motor mounts out and get it installed. Believe me, I never want to do this again. It was over 25 years ago I R&R my truck's engine and I forgot a whole lot of the tricks to doing it......................until after the fact. Little things like loosening the transmission cross member flex mount so it will roll left or right more.

Then the head scratcher........................timing a distributor to a different engine. First off...........we took all morning driving around trying to find a new o ring for the distributor. Ford doesn't even carry one in their manuals. The ones we tried to match the size too were a tad too large. So it went in with a o ring from the junk yard motor that had a nick in the o ring. The distributor fell in real easy where I wanted it. Thank you Lord. But re reading the procedure last night in bed, I realized I might have timed it to #4 instead of #1 cylinder. A 300 six will run this way. We will know today when we drive it hard. We have to change the lifter galley panel gasket today, as I forgot the low torque on those bolts and tightened the end on too tight while installing a wiring bracket and that caused a major oil leak.
hugs, Brandi

Brandi, you are a true friend indeed to a friend in need. I can't imagine doing that in this weather. I am waiting on tax refund (and hopefully warmer weather) to rebuild the engine in my 03 impala.

Brandi--You ARE a good friend. I think this pretty much assures St Peter giving you head-of-the-line privileges at Heaven's Gate. You are amazing.
