I can still remember as a kid, the highway signs that read "Tractors with lugs prohibited".

Actually is was surprising how poor the traction was, even the small early rubber tires got more traction under most conditions.
If you ever go to an antique tractor pull sometimes you will find a couple of tractors on steel and they are at quite a disadvantage.

You just had to have a smooth field! Great photo @bcp wish I had some photos of ours growing up. By the time I was old enough to understand it was in the rust pile...but that didn't stop me from playing on it!

My first thought was "I wonder how many people that thing killed". But that's a really cool old tractor.

Narrow front end, no roll over protection. Being from AG, I know multiple people who died from those.

Neighbor down the road has an old tractor( brand - ??? ) with steel wheels, sitting in his front yard. Tomorrow I'll take my camera and post a pic. We can all try to guess the brand.
