I don't have a manual , but it is my understanding that the clutch on a HST is only for engaging the the PTO

Have you test driven anything since that changes ranges better?

I have a B2320 and the PTO is the only thing that needs the clutch. For the HST you must be completely stopped but it then shifts nicely, with no clutch. A little roll on the 4x4 is ok, but still no clutch.

Manual says Stop.> Clutch.> Shift. either Range or PTO. So, that's what I do.
My "cab" seems all kind of roomy, but then I am only 5'-9" and it's an open station.

Seriously, the B isn't a huge tractor. It's a compact. By the time you enclose the operator station in a cab, it is going to be what it is. A compact cab. I don't see how it could be anything else.

No clutching needed for the L3400 for range changes, just PTO but sometimes when changing ranges, if it does not want to go, you move just a tad either forward or back then stop again, foot off the pedal, and try to move the lever again, this lines up the gears as pointed out by someone else. Not much of a problem as it only happens occasionally, most of the time it shifts ranges smoothly. But I rarely shift ranges, mostly choose L or M and stay there. H is strictly road gear on flat ground..pretty worthless around here. I am not sure about the bucket stopping at full height.. are you running an empty bucket to full stop height at full speed?.. Of course it will bounce the tractor, and make a bang.. it is a lot of mass to stop instantly. Or is it something else.?
As for size. I know what you mean, I did not buy the Yanmar/Cub because the operators station did not fit me. The L3400 fits me well, and I am 6' 1" about 300 lbs. I would not buy a tractor that did not fit well, as you will always be unhappy with it and not able to work efficiently with it.

This was a test drive of a brand new tractor no load in the bucket. When the bucket rolled, bounced, rebounded - whatever u want to call it - the tractor was at full rest, I was just checking out the action of the FEL when I saw that the bucket didn't stop at the top but bounced when the arms where at full extension.
