Smoke lots of fire smoke on the east coast.

Occasionally I check Dutchsinse youtube channel where he does earthquake forecasting but he also monitors some satellite feeds.

Well he was checking out a Canada feed on the 2nd and the fires broke out on a clear day in just a very short time. Very Short........

Just seems hard to believe this was just random chance for that many fires to start so close together timeline wise on a clear day.

The satellite feed of the fires actually starting back on the 2nd has not been carried on national news as far as I know.

They sure are covering the smoke now since some parts of New York were above 410 air quality index with the rating of "hazardous" starting at 300 AQI.

Sir Brian Harold May CBE (born 19 July 1947) is a British musician, singer, songwriter and astrophysicist. He achieved worldwide fame as the lead guitarist of the rock band Queen, which he co-founded with singer Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor. His guitar work and songwriting contributions helped Queen become one of the most successful acts in music history.

May previously performed with Taylor in the blues rock band Smile, which he had joined while he was at university. After Mercury joined to form Queen in 1970, bass guitarist John Deacon completed the line-up in 1971. They became one of the biggest rock bands in the world with the success of the album A Night at the Opera and its single "Bohemian Rhapsody". From the mid-1970s until 1986, Queen played at some of the biggest venues in the world, including an acclaimed performance at Live Aid in 1985.[3] As a member of Queen, May became regarded as a virtuoso musician, identified with a distinctive sound created through his layered guitar work, often using a home-built electric guitar called the Red Special.[4] May wrote numerous hits for Queen, including "We Will Rock You", "I Want It All", "Fat Bottomed Girls", "Flash", "Hammer to Fall", "Save Me", "Who Wants to Live Forever", "Too Much Love Will Kill You", "Tie Your Mother Down" and "The Show Must Go On".

Following the death of Mercury in 1991, aside from the 1992 tribute concert, the release of Made in Heaven (1995) and the 1997 tribute single to Mercury, "No-One but You (Only the Good Die Young)" (written by May), Queen were put on hiatus for several years but were eventually reconvened by May and Taylor for further performances featuring other vocalists. In 2005, a Planet Rock poll saw May voted the seventh-greatest guitarist of all time.[5] He was ranked at No. 26 on Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".[6] In 2012, he was ranked the second-greatest guitarist in a Guitar World magazine readers poll.[7] In 2001, May was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Queen and in 2018 the band received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.[8]

May was appointed a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2005 for services to the music industry and for charity work.[9] May earned a PhD degree in astrophysics from Imperial College London in 2007,[1][2] and was Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University from 2008 to 2013.[10] He was a "science team collaborator" with NASA's New Horizons Pluto mission.[11][12] He is also a co-founder of the awareness campaign Asteroid Day.[13] Asteroid 52665 Brianmay was named after him. May is also an animal rights activist, campaigning against fox hunting and the culling of badgers in the UK.[14]
Mercury grossed me out but he could sing and they had some great songs and were a good band ..IMO : THe Beatles are ten times better than Queen and none of the Beatles could write or read music ,Lennon and McCartney were writing songs when they were 15 yrs old they put out all of those hits and albums in a span of 7 yrs and have sold over a BILLION records.. Each album was a different style of music and the song's still hold up. Side 2 of Abbey Road is some of the greatest music ever recorded....This all IMO: Everyone has preferences.
Country music of today does not compare with Country music of the 1960's and 1970's. Loretta Lynn was a great composer of songs , Jimmy Hendrix wss a great guitarist and Chet Atkins was just as good in his own style melody picking.
Again just IMO:
I like all music if it has a good sound , Classical , Jazz , Country and Rock as long as it sounds good Latino music I can dig it all except for rap

I tried wearing a wristwatch several times in my life, but they always annoyed me. Almost all jewelry does. So when I do carry a watch, it's in my pocket. The only jewelry I wear is my wedding band.
I also dislike jewelry of any sort. Only ever wore a watch was in my 20s/30s when I had a job that involved travel.
I have a wedding ring, but only wear it on special occasions (dinner out on anniversary, etc.). Wife knew this before we got married and is OK with it. She does wear her rings.

My first wedding band got mailed to some random person in their monthly phone bill, well that is assumption. I was working on processing machine and it went AWOL. The replacement remained in a box until my wife started wearing it....
35 years and counting.

I guess it depends on what news you read. It got good coverage on this coast, but then we are a little sensitized to wildfire risk, so it makes good click bait.

Around here, we have seen strings of fires started by things as simple as loose trailer chains dragging on a road, a trailer tire on its rim, or an old catalytic converter dribbling red hot catalyst beads, or just from utility issues: sagging wires in heat, insulators shorting in wind, overheating transformers, or just poor trimming and line maintenance, all of which have caused major fires here in the last few years.

Personally, I would reframe the problem (issue?) as when the conditions are just right, lots of little things will, and do, set off forest fires. The "cure" is probably along the lines of more, and more routine, controlled burns to reduce fuel loads in the understory, but that will require changes in how US, and Canadian forests are managed.

Meanwhile, I have lots of sympathy for those suffering through poor air quality. It is not fun, it is harmful, and downright lethal for many.

All the best,

Peter
