The design of the container holding the water doesn't have much effect. I've just filled and drained both kitchen sinks (different sizes and shapes) the Laundry sink and the Bathroom sink. All 4 sinks were filled and left until there was no water movement from the filling. the sinks were plastic or stainless steel.
In all instances the water rotated clockwise.

The design of the container, the drain, imperfections in surfaces all play a huge role in it.

Think aboutit. If the coriolis effect makes hurricanes rotate counter-clockwise in the northern hemisphere and cyclones rotate clockwise in the southern hemisphere, why would water drain clockwise in the nothern hemisphere and counter-clockwise in the southern hemisphere, opposite of what the weather does? It makes no sense.

If the coriolis effect is strong enough to spin hurricanes, how would water in a tiny sink drain go counter to that?

This is my favorite...

Here's a video that shows how to do the experiment properly.

It shows repetitive results of water spinning clockwise in the southern hemisphere in Australia, counter-clockwise in the norther hemisphere in Paris, and no spin at all in Singapore about 1 degree from the equator. Exactly the same way the weather in hurricanes and cyclones do.

Exactly the opposite of what people claim will happen in your sink drain. The violent drain spin in our homes isn't caused by the coriolis effect. It's due to other factors that are way more powerful than the coriolis effect.

But what are these "other factors"

If you have been in tall buildings on a windy day, you can feel them swaying.
This is on purpose, if they were to remove flex, they would snap.
In buildings 40 or so stories tall, you can see the movement as well as hear it.
