Had a mechanical keypad on one place, only problem was one of my sons friends would watch you push the code and then he had the code, kind of a pain.
The battery driven ones are problematic, had a couple that the folks lost the over ride key and let the batteries go flat, ended up drilling through a lock on another door to get in , twice !

I ran out of the house to grab something from the truck one cold winter night. No coat, I would only be outside for a minute. That was the night that the latch mechanism decided to fail... I was standing outside in my shirt sleeves with no other choice but to kick the door in. (Did I mention that my truck keys were also in the house?) That isn't as easy as it looks on TV, especially when the door is at the top of a set of steps.
I finally got in, the next day I bought a new knob assembly and repaired the door casing.

I stopped into the local general store a few years back. The clerk had locked her keys into her Cherokee, and her BF's employee was trying to jimmy the lock. I went in, did my business then went out and offered to help. After a few frustrating minutes of almost snagging the lock, I started checking doors. Rear Driver side, no luck. Front passenger- locked. When I pulled on the passenger side rear door it opened, and I was in like Flynn.

She must have been on her way to file a complaint about the deer crossing signs, trying to get them moved to someplace safer.
