Technical question regarding Landpride FDR1660 Finish Mower

Am I correct assuming the gear oil is measured by the two lines about a 1/4 inch up the dipstick? The manual only states "fill to the fill mark" but does not specify what is the fill mark. Usually manuals give a blown up picture of the fill lines. Those lines at the very end of the dipstick seem like an awful low amount of gear oil??

Also regarding the vent cap on the dipstick, is it supposed to be tight or "spring freely"? I noticed a spring under the cap but not sure if its supposed to sit tight. Right now its tight.

I have the same mower. The dipstick on mine is not "springy." There are two marks on the bottom of the dipstick. The oil level should be between the two (screw in the dip stick without tightening, withdraw, check). Or you could remove the side oil plug--on level ground--and see if oil runs out. If it does not, add oil until it does. Check when the gearbox is cold. Hope this helps.

Ugarte, yes that helps thank you. The top of my dipstick has a removable cap and if removed there is a spring under under it. I assume if the gear box over heats the spring will blow the cap off as a way to vent the pressure. I had to "assemble" my dipstick which consisted of installing the spring and cap. I believe the manual just states the dipstick should be assembled by the dealer but mine wasn't. Just wondering if I did it right.
