Today I employed my BX for its first unusual task. My new house has a 35' tall, 1/2" thick walled steel stepped pipe TV anntena tower. The danger in removing it was that it was only inches away from my tile roofed house. This placed the potential for damage in to high range. My solution was to only cut it half way (thus keeping the bottom of the pole anchored and under control), and then pull it in the correct direction and essentially rip it down.
I leaned an extention ladder up againt it and climbed to the top. I tied a 100' rope to it and then to the top bar of the 3PH. After warming the tractor up, I put it in 4wd and low range. I put tension on the line while a freind sawzalled it half off. Then I pulled it down.
Totally fun! Really made me feel good that I didn't buy a Craftsman. Would have looked stupid spinning the wheels on a 300 lbs mower. Hydro is an awesome transmission. It allowed me to apply just the right amount of power hitting the sweet spot. My neighbors couldn't believe we took it down in the dangerous spot it was in. Total authority. Kubotas are cool.
P.S. Milwaulkee 11Amp is an excellent sawzall if your in the market. Got that sucker red hot and cooked 3 blades cutting the bar up for the trash man.
