TD95D shuttle shift question

Here's another one I can't get an answer for at the dealer.

I asked them if I have to use the clutch or not for the shuttle lever and they all gave me different answers.

It doesn't say in the owners manual. I did try it carefully once and it does shift without clutching but I don't want to do it again until someone can tell me for certain if it's designed to be clutched or not for it.

The TD95 is same setup as TD75 except more power. both have mechanical shuttle transmissions which of course means you must press clutch to shift to change directions. hope this helps.

Right, thats why the TN series has a powershuttle option (more $$$)...it has the plumbing and electronics to do the clutching so you dont have to. Does your manual say anything about whether the shuttle is synchronized? In other words do you have to stop or be w/i a certain speed range to safely shift direction?

my manual says as long as clutch pedal depressed you can shuttle with out stopping. but it warns to do this at slower speeds to avoid damage when clutch is released.

It does say it's synchronized. I don't have to stop completely but I do slow down to almost a stop before shifting it. I've had to rebuild too many case and Kubota power shuttles to be hard on it like that. Especially case backhoes. That was a simple shuttle to overhaul but they really get abused hard out in dairy country where I used to live. I've just never had to tear into a newholland yet so I don't know anything at all about them.
