Riding along doing some work and all at once the front l/h Wheel fell OFF. the wheel shaft just broke right into there goes another 298 bucks
I hope this doesn't sound crass, but $298 seems cheap for that kind of failure.![]()
There is alot more to the repair than the axle shaft. Bearings, seals, and what ever caused the problem in the first place. Dig deep or you will be digging again shortly with another failure.
Whatever caused the failure probably happened days, weeks, or even months prior to the final failure and involved some sort of shock loading to the axle shaft.
That's kinda why I hoped to see a picture. The wheel mounting flange is probably press fit to the axle shaft. I don't think it's welded, but I haven't looked at mine to see. I'm wondering if the axle actually broke or the flange separated from the axle? Maybe h10doc is busy working the repair and will let us know more when he can. I'm sure that if one of my front wheels broke off, I'd be shoppin' for a new pair of skivvies.
