Tractor
New Holland TC35A
After much deliberation I have decided on a TC35A tractor. I have considered a wide variety of options (new vs. used, NH vs. Kubota) and the 35A seems like the best choice. My credit application was approved late this afternoon and I will call the dealership tomorrow with the final approval. I need to decide on a rotary cutter and negotiate a price in with the price of the tractor. I also need to add a grill guard. I think those are an additional $250.

TC35A (12x12)
Foldable ROPS
Deluxe 3PH
R4 tires (filled)
16LA Loader w/quick attach bucket
0% for 5 years

$19,800 before taxes

I was leaning toward a Kubota L3130 (DT) with 245 hours, but the 7.9% finance rate made this used tractor almost the same price as a new TC35A. There were a few other issues surrounding the Kubota that sealed the deal toward NH. The ultimate tie braker was my wife. She hands-down preferred the NH over the Kubota.

Thanks for all of the advice. I will post some pics ASAP.

Anything else I need to consider before signing on the dotted line??

Congratulations on the purchase. I would consider at least one remote. That way you could add a hydraulic toplink easily. That would add about $500 more to the price, but well worth it in my opinion.

I guess knowing what I do about my R$s, I'd also consider R1s, but I don't know your situation or needs, so that is not a big thing.

Good luck, I'm anxious to see pictures.:)

I ordered my TC26 just before July 4th...now the wait is killing me:eek: . I actually had to go out and buy some "tractor stuff" before I even have the tractor:D . I don't know much about rotary cutters, but I did get my dealer to "throw in" a ballast box, which I think has a comparable list price to the grill guard. If all goes according to schedule, I'll be out in my yard next week this time on a new BLUE. Hope yours comes quickly. Enjoy!

Patrick

oh the stuff I got - 3pt carry-all (1000lb) from TSC and Pats quick change - learned about both of these while reading the discussions here and both seem like they will come in real handy - and not too expensive either.

I would still recommend a grill guard and get a box blade instead of a ballast box if you can still swing it. Anyways congratulations on your new tractor :D. Use it safely and well. Please keep the posts coming and out of curiousity where do you live in western MA? Jay

Thanks for all of the comments. I am looking forward to the TC35A.

jinman...the tractor has the R4s on it now and the dealership wants to sell it that way. I was a bit worried about the traction on the R4s...but I thought that the 4WD would help when traction got iffy.

Randy - your website was great. My 35A should look exactly like yours. I noticed that it had the foldable ROPS and Deluxe 3PH also. Did you add that storage compartment yourself? That would be handly for holding extra pins and a cell phone. Not having a toolbox or a storage bin is one of the things I did not like about the A models vs. the DA. I will definitely get the grill guard.

A boxblade is high on my list of implements. It will probably be next!!!! I hope to finalize the deal on Monday and get the tractor on its way. Those Boomers really are nice looking tractors!!

Jay (jbrumberg): I guess I'm in mid-west mass just east of Springfield (coming from the Boston Area, this is west - though we still have a bit of a drive to the Berkshires).

I did get the grill guard too. I admit I didn't think much about a box blade, as I have a paved (but long) driveway. Then when I started asking about a tooth bar, someone suggested using the scarifiers on the box blade to loosen up the ground if needed before FEL digging. Now, I'm having second thoughts. I live up on a hill an my ground is mostly wooded but I would like to clear some of it for trails - is that a box blade task?

I currently have a similar challenge- I need to expand one of my trails as my new tractor is much bigger than my old tractor was. I see the need for both a toothbar and a box blade as I need to "work" my way in (toothbar) and pull and smooth everything out working out (box blade). The box blade will keep the trail maintained afterwards. I already started to take out alot of vegetation with my brush trimmer and chainsaw. I wish I could have gone in with my rotary cutter, but my ROPS/FOPS would be having a lot of negative interactions with tree boughs/limbs ! There is a reason why the TC "D" series tractors have "breakaways" for hazard lights . Jay

PS: Box blades and tillers are pretty heavy. I use both for rear ballast.

WOW!! 0% for 5 years is great. It's hard to pass on "free money"!

Enjoy.
