You need to be specific on what the tractor is doing. Does it turn over, do the dash lights come on, or nothing at all happens.
Make sure the PTO levers are off, the shift lever is in neutral, and the parking brake is set. There are a bunch of possibilities to go through before I would replace the glow plugs. Those are only a starting aid.

I wonder if the safety switch under the seat is malfunctioning. You can jump them with a piece of wire to test them.

Larry, thank you for responding. Yes all is as you say, PTO, neutral, 4 wheel drive, parking brake, all is where it should be when trying to start. Yes it turns over when trying to start (new battery last fall). Yes lights go on on dash except for the 1st one (looks like a light bulb).

OK, If there is enough power to roll the engine over then I would start looking past the battery. You glow plug light should light, although a diesel needs to roll fast to fire up.
Make sure the PTO light is not staying light after the first few seconds, that could mean a wire has become detached...been there :) .
The relay powering the glow plugs could be failed but that would just make it hard to start... not stop it from starting.
I had my brake switch move and not make good contact but if I sat in the seat it made no difference.
I would check the seat switch as well. Do you have a meter? If we're going to diagnose this over the interwebz it may take some time, be patient.
And read the thread JDRancher linked to...it covers numerous problems.
