TC33D hydraulic cooler hose failure

Unless there's a leak in the cooler, I don't see the point in replacing it.

When I replaced the elbows, I bent up a piece of cardboard to prevent the battery from getting covered with hyd oil. As it turned out, not that much dripped out, however I still recommend covering or removing the battery. Regarding replacing the solid lines, I can't imagine they hold much oil.

Not much mess at all. I cracked the lower attachment with a bucket underneath it and went on and did some other things.

The only suprise came for me when there was a spring / check ball under the line that is on the filter housing. (mine is a 1925 not sure if they are all the same) I guess I just did not expect to see a spring come out of the hydraulic line.

My front area was always covered with an oil mist anyway, so I was not too worried, just washed it all down real well after I was done.... Have not had to do that anymore /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It took me a couple of minutes of playing to get the two lines "situated" comfortably in all the brackets, but once there, everything fit perfect on mine.

Proabably an hour job including clean up and servicing.

Oh, and soundguy, you could have heard a pin drop when the parts guy told me the "special" hydrostat filter (the one that is not supposed to blow) was $60. I guess I am just cheap but I thought the $18 original one was steep.

I can't remember the exact price.. but my primary hyd filter is int he 40$ range air filter inner is spendy too.. outter is cheap.. oil fitler is 14$.. etc..

I'm glad my battery is up under the hood on a swing out frame.., and not up in front of the radiator, like the smaller tractors... way easier to service..

Soundguy with all respect on the smaller New Holland's all one has to do is open the hood and the battery is right up front staring them in the face. It couldn't get any easier to service.

Now, I do think that the original design left a lot to be desired. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Some engineer out there might have guessed that off-gassing of the battery was going to cause some additional problems. But it does look like they finally got their act together and figured a way to direct the problem gasses and acid down and away from the tractor preventing any further damage. Lets applaud New Holland for that. Better late than never. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been following this thread with interest as the owner of a new DX29, ala TC29D, the red little brother to the TC33. I was out greasing the tractor and checking fluids and such and took a look at my hydraulic lines. I have metal tubing running from hoses about a foot behind the radiator, up the left side, and almost into the oil cooler, mounted in front of the water radiator and at the top. There are little sections of straight hose connecting the metal lines to the tubes built into the radiator, but everything else is metal. I thought the DX and TC came down the same assembly line, but maybe not. Either that, or my dealer installed the fix before selling the tractor. Anyways, I guess this is something I don't need to wonder about anymore. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
