Used my TC30 with 7308 loader to move a big tree. The nursery where I bought the tree (3in caliper Sugar Maple) told me that it weighed 700 lbs. When I got home with it I lifted it off my trailer with the loader and some chains. The loader said "I think I can, I think I can" and it did. It took all the weights I had to ballast the rear end of the tractor but I got the job done.

Way to go Jerry (and your tractor)! It's very satisfying moving those mountains, isn't it. Just curious, how did you pick up and secure the tree in your bucket? I asume it was balled and burlaped? Those things sure can be awkward /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The tress have a 3ft dia ball that is in a wire cage. The wire cage is a large 6in by 6in mesh so you don't have to remove it for planting. The wire cage has four loops or handles on top. I simply hook a chain to two of the handles and attach the chain to my fel. I roll the bucket down first and wrap the trunk of the tree in carpet so it does'nt get scraped. This technique allows me to lower the tree directly into the hole and/or lift it back out if the hole is'nt just right the first time. (it never is)

Moved another big tree yesterday. But this time I did it with the rear tires filled. Did not need to put an implement on the back. The rear end of the tractor stayed down and maintained traction. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif It's really neat when you can lower the 3ft dia root-ball into the hole and then lift it back out to turn the tree or tune-up the hole. How do non-tractor people survive ?

Just curious. What did you end up filling with?

I filled the tires with RimGuard. I don't think this product is available in all parts of the US. It is a non-toxic, non-corrosive, water soluble product that will not freeze. It weighs almost 12 lbs per gallon. The tractor dealers in my area use it exclusively. I shopped around for price and advice and no one even offers chloride anymore. The tire dealer even told me that the stuff is safe for human consumption. Though I don't imagine it would taste very good.

OH OH! Just noticed something. /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif My loader does'nt come down and sit nice and level anymore. I think I twisted it a bit with all the heavy lifting. The loads I have been lifting are difficult to balance and I have been working on rolling terrain. Pretty difficult to keep all the forces evenly distributed. The right side of my bucket touches down about 2 inches before the left. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif I'll have to try twisting it the opposite way to straighten it out. /w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif

So what's the problem?? Just turn around, and you're bucket will be flat again! /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif Maybe if I pick up Garry and his golfcart with the left side of my bucket, it'll straighten out.

Do you have a seatbelt on that thing ?

Do you have collission insurance ?
