TC30 + JD894a Side Delivery Rake + JD 14T Baler =?

I just wanted to put a message up here and let you folks know that my father-in-law's TC30 worked real nicely this weekend running a JD side delivery rake and square baler. We didn't do very many bales as we had some other projects to work on, but it was a lot of fun.

A square baler uses a flywheel that 'holds' about 50 hp, but only takes about 15 hp to keep it running. The plunger uses a lot of power, but only for a short period, so the 15hp input is enough.

The problem is, that 50hp flywheel can put quite a strain on a compact tractor. Many of them are not built tough enough to take this 'feast & famine' pto loading.

Probably ok for a few bales now & then, and your tractor is on the bigger end of the compact side of things so you are probably alright anyhow.
