I posted about this in the general Owning/Operating forum:

Diesel bogging/stalling

Sounds like the first thing to try is replacing the fuel filter. I've found it, I believe, above the oil filter, but I'm not sure how to remove it. It doesn't seem to be very accessible. Am I missing some trick?

Thanks.

It sounds like you found it and it isn't very easy to remove. I move what I can out of the way and then use a small strap wrench to unscrew it.
Do it a couple times and it gets easier.

I just changed the motor oil and the hydraulic oil in the front and rear differentials and transmission also. I changed the fuel filter, you have to take the bottom screen off and yes it is just above the oil filter. I used a big pair of channel locks to remove and tighten. Just be careful not to over tighten. When you are done you will have to open the fuel bleeder to bleed the system and get the air out.

Thanks, guys! And thanks for the PDF! I've got an FEL, so going in through the side won't be easy. Does removing the oil filter help enough that I should do that, too?

No need to remove the oil filter. Use a pair of channel locks to loosen the ring on the fuel bowl. Make sure the rubber O ring that seats down on the fuel bowl is in good shape.
