Tractor
NH TC29D
Stopped by my local NH dealer today. Wanted to look at the 25D but he didn't have one in stock. He did have the 29D and as I understand it they are essentially the same except for the engine size (anyone feel free to jump in and correct me if I'm wrong).

In any event, I was wondering about the NH backhoe and how it attaches to the 25D. Is there a subframe attachment or is it a 3pt attachment? Is attaching/detaching an easy/quick process or time comsuming and laborious?

As I have mentioned in other posts, I've never owned a tractor and only through extensive reading on this forum have I learned enough to even think of questions like this. However, I haven't learned enough to know how dumb such questions might be, so please be gentle with your response.

Now, I've read on TBN that NH is about to release a 24D. Is this a replacement for the 25D or 21D? Or is it just an addition to the lineup?

I guess I'll stop here. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

The NH backhoes are sub frame mounted. I don't know how long it takes to mount them.

I think the TC25D is being discontinued

The TC24D is an addition & is the size of a TC18 or TC21D but w/ more HP.

I have the NH 757C backhoe on my TC33D. It is subframe mounted. The subframe is attached in basically three places, a bracket under the rear axle and brackets on each side up front which are held by pins. It is quite easy to remove and re-install once you have done it a few times. Now I can do it in a few minutes. One advantage of the New Holland setup is that the 3 pt hitch arms do not have to be removed. Remove the backhoe and you are instantly ready for a rear imiplement. The 2 brackets up front do interfere with use of a mid mount mower. I mow with a rear 3pt rear discharge mower which at this point I prefer because of the ease of putting it on and the ability to back it into areas. The backhoe is plumbed right into the tractor's hydraulics and operates quite adequately that way. One gotcha on removing the backhoe is that you should move the controls around after turning off the tractor to remove any pressure in the hydraulic lines. If you don't the pressure will make it difficult to re-attach the lines.

Hazmat, Thank you for the reply. If the 24D is on the same (or similar) frame as the 18/21, then can I assume that the 29D will be the only remaining Class II Boomer if the 35D is discontinued?

Mike, Thank you for that good description of the backhoe attachment. Can I assume that the subframe attaches to the 25D/29D in a similar fashion? RE the MMM, you stated that the subframe interferes with the use of the MMM. Does that mean the mower has to come off in order to attach the backhoe OR just that the mower height cannot be lowered for use while the backhoe is attached? Thanks again for your input.

Spencer, as you can see, I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of the information I have been getting. After reviewing the specs again, I now see that the 33D is as you stated. So, were the other conclusions correct? Class I will include the TC18, 21 and 24, while Class II will include the 29 and 33? If the 25D is being discontinued, would it be unwise to consider this tractor? Thanks for your help.

'Class'... is that refering to category? As in cat1, cat2, etc..

Nope. The boomers have three different chassis sizes refered to as classes (don't know why), small (class 1) medium (class 2) and large (class 3). The 3 point hitches on all are catagory 1.
