I have an '03 TC24D, and I have two questions... it has been leaking a bit of green coolant on the garage slab for the past two months. Only about a quarter cup or so, but consistently. I have checked the level in the radiator, and it looks fine. It is definitely low in the plastic reservoir, though. Any ideas why this might be happening? The gauge is always well within safe limits.

Next question... what sort of coolant should I use? I have misplaced my owners manual.

Thanks very much

check all hose clamps to make sure they are tight. Check water pump weep hole also.

I don't have a manual for your machine. but a quick call to your CNH dealer should tell you if it does or does not need the CNH FW-15 cavitation/electrolysis addative for it's coolant. I'm betting it does.

Good info already posted on the leak. try to look directly above the drips to see where it came from.. watch out for belts and hoses as leaks can drip on them and then run, then drip on the floor.. etc.

Block heater?

When I changed the antifreeze on my tractor and I just used plain old green Prestone at the advice of 2 different dealerships. Haven't had any problems so far. Though I need to do it again as I have done it in a couple of years.

Check your manual to see if you need the addative. cheaper to find out now than in 10ys..

The manual for the TC18 calls for a 50/50 mix of permanent antifreeze and water.

That was why I had originally asked the dealerships as I wasn't sure what "permanent antifreeze" was.

All the replies have pretty much covered the technical aspects.

I just wanted to add, if you have any pets that go in the garage, be careful about them getting the antifreeze on the floor. Its sweet to them, just as tempting as soda for a kid. One tablespoon will shut the kidneys down on a 75 pound dog and can be fatal. I've been through it and that is what the vet told me, fortunately my dog didn't get enough the one time she found antifreeze in the neighbor's driveway. But she did get to spend New Year's Eve under observation with the vet!
