Tractor
Had a B7500
The dealer is going to deliver a new TC21D tomorrow. Luckily I have been dealing with 2 very good dealers, and it looks like I am going to buy the blue TC21. If the B7500 had position control, that is what I would buy, but it does not. Here is the package... TC21D with R4 ballast tires, block heater, 3 front weights, $11,100. Add to it a 5 foot King Kutter rear finish mower and 4 foot KK brush hog for another $1550. I think that is all for now, even though I can save about 450 on the loader if I buy it with the tractor ( 2500 no tax, vs. 2800 plus tax) The belly mower would have been another $1700, but I figured getting a brush hog too for less money would be worth it in the long run. We will see how it mows tomorrow, get this, he doesn't want to do the final paperwork for a week! I'll let you know how it goes.

Could you explain what "position control" is. I'm thinking it is just the 3 pt hitch raise/lower lever and is infinitely variable . I also find it hard to believe a tractor would not have that. If it is "draft control" then I would understand why a tractor does not have it except many at an option. The L4610 I am looking at has it as an option. I would not need it and would not order it since I find it a very little used feature on my International. For a small tractor I would think the same would apply, but you may have a specific application for it. Rat...

Congratulations and welcome to the BLUE club. I have less than 30 hours on my TC 21 D and I am very pleased. It sounds like you got a very good price. I don't know why but prices in the Northeast seem to be alot higher.

Rat, "position control" and "draft control" are two entirely different animals. Draft control raises an implement (usually plows) automatically when the tractor is pulling too hard, likely to bog down, or spin the wheels, and automatically lowers it deeper when it's pulling easily. Position control is related to the lever that you use to raise and lower the 3-point anytime. Without position control, the lever is centered in its slot. You push forward and the 3-point lowers, and it will continue downward until you move the lever back to the center or it reaches its lower limit. You pull back and it raises, and it will continue to rise until you move the lever back to the center or it reaches its upper limit. On the tractors you're looking at (with position control) you move the lever back and the 3-point raises, the lever stays where you put it, push forward and the 3-point lowers to the level you placed the lever in and the lever stays where you put it again. You move the lever just a little bit and the 3-point changes just a little bit, but without position control, even moving the lever a tiny bit will start the 3-point moving and it continues to move until you center the lever again. Position control makes minor adjustments much, much easier.

Bird, I find it interesting that a tractor would be manufactured without it. I have never used a tractor without "position control" which is why the confusion. I am quite familiar with draft control. I do use it on my International occasionally, especially when spreading gravel on my road. The draft control on it is extremely sensitive and works amazingly well, even better then on the much newer Kubota or New Holland I use. But I do find myself in "draft off" mode 99% of the time. Thanks for clearing that up for me, Rat...

Rat, I've wondered why all the tractors don't have position control. I can only speculate that it might be cheaper to build them without it, but I wouldn't have thought their production costs would have been much different.
