I need a new boomer for finish mowing/lawn mowing/hay/a bit of transport/ making and a bit of gardening.
But what is the best chose a tc 40/45
and a hydro or a manual transmission
Is it difficult to work with manual for mowing (not mush trees in my way and only 4 corners).

Do a search for hay in this forum and you will find lots of posts. I have a TC40DA and love it. But I don't use if for finish mowing and while I might bale a couple of acres with an old square baler, I don't think it is enough tractor for making lots of hay.

I really like my geared 12 speed forward 12 speed reverse with Shuttle Shift. It's not really more work than a hydro, because the shuttle shift is a snap and becomes "automatic". I would think geared is at least a little bit more reliable than the hydro. You can buy a small implement or 3 for the price difference, or get a TC45 geared for closer to the price of a TC40 hydro. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We do use ours quite a bit for finish mowing but that is just one of its many duties around here. We came off of a gear tractor and went to a hydro and are very well pleased. You should pick your new tractor to fit your style not ours.

I would highly recommend driving one of each before you make your final decision.
