Now that the weather has turned cold here in Illinois my 35 won't start if left outside. It just turns over but won't fire. If I plug the engine in and leave it for a few hours then it starts right up. Am I right in assuming the glo plug is not working? I have noticed that the light for the glo plug no longer comes on. I didn't pay any attention to this while it was warm since the tractor started without issue.

I don't think your tractor would start without glow plugs winter or summer. The glow plug light might be burnt and that is why it don't show. I am no expert. I never plug my CK30 in the winter but I do heat up the glow plugs twice before starting and have no problems. So check your glow plug light. I could be wrong.

My experience with diesels is you'll need starting aid ( glow plugs, Thermostart, block heater, etc) when the temperature is less than 40F if you want an easy start. If the temperature is going to be consistently below 40F I use the block heater. It's easier on the battery and the engine because the cylinders are warm.

So check your glow plugs to make sure they are working, use your block heater for a couple of hours before starting, double cycle your glow plugs and it'll start right up.

I did notice a couple days ago that the glo plug light came on once. But it hasn't come on since. So pretty sure it isn't the light itself.

Other opinions on whether it would start in warm weather without the glo plug working?

Also, where is the glo plug relay and how do I get to it?
