i want to tape 6 mil greenhouse plastic to galvanized steel tubing. is there a specific kind of tape i should use or will any do? greenhouse plastic is polyethylene i think. waterproof tape (is there such a thing?) would be a plus. like waterproof duct tape?

Most greenhouse mfg carry the tape for the polyethylene. You can try...

i used some duct tape that claims to be water resistant. so far its working fine. made by 3m. i have some of that poly patch tape around. excellent for patching holes in film and also would be good for what i got the duct tape for. i have mpd also.
