Tanaka parts

I have an old but (until recently) compeletely reliable Tanaka ECV4501 chainsaw. Now due to cylinder wear, it wil start but not run.
The bore can be fixed with high-temp JB weld but a new piston, rings and gaskets woud certainly help matters.It is only my backup saw but I'm loathe to junk it.

No one in Oz has them but the parts are available from the US for about $50 but the mailing cost is around $US 150 - thats nearly $A200. The Brits have the parts too but will not ship to Australia- perhaps they think that being upside down, we wil fall off the planet before the payment clears!

Has anyone had any success getting Tanaka parts from anywhere other than the US?

Thanks but I have delved further into the guts of my machine and found the source of the problem was the big end bearing on the con rod - stuffed and allowing the piston to flop around. Not worth fixing because no-one here in OZ has the parts and shipping ex US is absurd - three times the cost of the parts!

I'm selling it for parts and for only $75 it will be good for anyone needing the bits. It includes a new chain & recoil starter, Walbro carb and other good bits

Thanks Allen - did not find that dealer when I was searching, but as noted earlier, the proble was actually the big end bearing and maybe the crank too - too big a job to justify the work and cost. I have 7575now sold the Tanaka for parts - $75

Shipping is becoming a no go in many cases...

Each year I would ship holiday packages to Europe... besides not knowing when it would arrive, the shipping was 2.5 times the cost of the items plus duty was due at destination...

For a few I shop internet sites in Europe and come out way ahead...

As a side note... back in the 90's the hospital would receive two or three full totes of mail daily... today it was 7 items received and two going out...
