Taking delivery of mx5800 this week...top/side link ?

I'd go with ball ends on the cylinder so there's no bending force on the cylinder when the implement moves from side to side. Top link cylinders are easy to find. Side links are more specific to the tractor and harder to find.

Watch port locations and fittings during all sway movements. Also my L5740 has class 1 top link pins but it’s a 1-2 rated with everything else class 2. My first top link had side mounted ports and the hole caught on the top pivot bolt on the 3 point and dumped my 3 point and a large round bale on the county road in front of my farm. Supplier built me a new cylinder with ports on top eliminating hose interference. Also welded end for CAT 2 hitch since Kubota bracket would accommodate Cat 2 size. Even my Cat 2 end is now showing cracks and will need to be replaced.

Good points above. I did check for clearance on all my connections. I did use swivel connections on the cylinder side to make sure I could point the connection in the correct direction to avoid rubbing. I had to use bushing on both connection ends as my quick hitch is a Cat 1 pin and I have my three point set to minimize sway.

Hello! I will be picking up my mx5800 this week and am looking forward to the upgrade from my 30 hp new holland TC30!

The dealer is adding third function and 2 rear remotes as we speak. I plan to add hydraulic top and side link to help speed up the grading/crowning process on my 1/2 mile gravel drive.

Anyways, kubota wanted $1000 for just the top link and that seems crazy. I know there is a member here that sells custom hydraulic links (fit rite), that get great reviews....but his lead time is 5-6 months. I would really like to find something quicker. Anybody have any ideas or experiences?

You're going to love the extra power of the MX5800! I certainly did when I traded my L3430

I ordered a "factory" T&T kit when I bought the MX5800 in May of 2016. The dealer told me Kubota didn't make the parts, they just told the dealer which cylinders to order. The top link worked ok but they had to try 3 different side links before they found one that fit. Even then, I had to modify the installation myself to keep the lift link from shearing off one of the cylinder ports.

Kubota may now offer a kit that fits and maybe you have a dealer that knows what he's doing but if it were me, I'd wait the 20 weeks and have Brian at Fit Rite put a kit together for you. He did a fantastic job on a kit for my old L3430 which also works nicely on my L6060.

Be aware that your 2 rear remotes will be used for the T&T kit leaving you no spare ports for other implements. For that, you'll have to use a diverter valve or disconnect one of the T&T cylinders. Doing that will of course partially disable your 3 pt hitch.

I do a lot of grading with a power angle stone rake behind my MX5800. The rake requires 3 remotes, two for the T&T and one for the angle cylinder. I used a diverter valve for a while but eventually added a third rear remote for convenience. Just something to think about.

Same 3 years ago on my L4060. None of the TnT cylinders from the dealer fit, most leaked, some gushed. Took a while for my FitRite cylinders to make it, but they were worth the wait. Not sure where they found that janky supplier, but not the quality you expect with a new Kubota. Of course the rear remotes suck nearly as bad & are an actual OEM Kubota part.

I just put a top link on my MX5800. I didn't want to wait 20 weeks either so I went this route. Very happy so far. Total cost was just over $200.

Hydraulic Cylinder Tang

Went with WTG 2.5x14. You can get Cat 2 to Cat 1 bushings at TSC to put in the tractor side cylinder mount if needed.

For the hoses and fittings, I bought from Discount Hydraulic Hose | Your Online Hydraulic Shop. I used 1/4" hoses which work very well for a workable speed on the hydraulic. My order was for 30" hoses which work, but I would probably go 36" if I did it again just to give me a bit more flexibility. My order.

(2) 6400-04-08 | 1/4" JIC Male x #8 SAE/ORB Male (connects into cylinder)

Build a hose with the following to connect to the JIC fittings above:
(2) R16-04-ASB | 1/4" SAE 100R16 Hydraulic Hose Assembly
R16-04-ASB
fitting1: FJX45-04-04
fitting2: MP-04-08

I had the tractor end pioneer fittings from when I added my remotes. I suspect you should too.

Thanks, i couldn't swallow the price of a 3rd remote, guess it can always be added down the road. I don't have a rear implement that needs one...yet. lol

No idea. I wasn't too worried about it. I figured for $137 I would see how long it lasts. I suppose one could even not use the bushing to give it some play. I have my 3pt set to not sway much. I will know soon if it is going to break. Just bought some land that needs bush hogging so it will get a test.
