I always wondered how fast my PTOs were spinning. Now that I have my Tiny Tach I won't have to guess. Below is an RPM table that I have posted in my garage. The formating isn't too good. I will try to attach a text file with the same info.

John,

Are these actual measured or from a Kubota source? I assume they would also apply to the BX1800 as well. Thanks for the information.

Here's your info in table form. I took the liberty of adding an entry for 540 RPM PTO speed, and an abbreviated version that could be laminated and stuck on the dash.

Yes, the source of the RPM data is Kubota. Below is the Email that they sent me. I used the ratios they sent me to develop the table.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Hello Mr. Engwer. Thank you for contacting Kubota. The answer to your
inquiry is as follows:

The the rear PTO rpm speed is 540 @ 3068 engine rpm speed. Engine rpm
ratio: 5.68 to 1
The mid PTO rpm speed is 2500 @ 3125 engine rpm speed. Engine rpm ratio:
1.25 to 1

TractorlessSacto... Thanks, I will laminate the short list, insert an eyelet and attach it to my key ring.

Don't you just love this place? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Thanks to you and TOFKAT for the RPM vs PTO table, I'm going to make good use of it. I like the idea of laminating it and hanging it from the key ring too. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Installed the tiny tach today using information from this thread, worked fine, no problems and it works as advertised. Decided to use a piece of velcro to hold it to the dash instead of fabricating a plate or drilling holes, seems to hold fine. I painted the transducer grey to match the fuel injector lines as specified in the instructions, guess this is done to offer some weather protection.

Received the invoice in the mail today for the tach, unusual approach to ship the unit without actually receiving payment first but I sent off a check to them today, obviously if they didn't get their money very often, they would have stopped using this approach.

Thanks to all for sharing their install information and pictures as it did simplify and help make this about a 1 hour job.

Guess what I got for Father’s Day??

YEP a Tiny Tach, so now the questions.

Did you cut the transponder wire, or just coil it up, its about 3 feet too long? I have a gap when the hood shuts, the wires fit in the gap without drilling a hole in the black plastic. Any reason why you choose to drill a hole? The wire for the power fits through the space for the throttle cable, did you just fit it through the space or make another hole? And finally what size male spade did you use to connect to the loose connector above the battery?

Thanks for your help.

I didn't drill any holes-- ran the transponder to the engine compartment through the hole for the throttle cable and just bundled the extra wire using a small tie wrap to hold the excess. There was also room under the grommet around the lever for the hood release to get the wires through to mount the control unit on the dash. No drilling, cutting or other modifications.

Don't remember the exact size of the spade lug for power, probably 1/8" or so, I had quite a few laying around just found one that fit. Good luck with the install.

Tom, just coincidently, I just installed my TinyTach yesterday afternoon. I just coiled up the extra line and wire-tied it to the wire harness under the hood. I made a small bracket out of aluminum to mount the tach on the fixed portion of the hood just in front of the dash. Yea, I have to lean forward just a tad to see the reading, but it's not something I'd be concerned with "constantly". Pic attached of the mounted unit.

Thanks. I do much better in wood, but sometimes ya just have to work with metal...and aluminum is easy!

Sunday, I learned all about hydraulics, however...a little too much pressure left in the 'hoe when it was last taken off the machine resulted in a number of multi-syllabic unprintable phrases and a facial shower of hydo fluid. (Fortunately, I was wearing safety glasses at the time...)

Very nice job Jim! I installed my Tiny Tach a month or so ago and I noticed recently that the RPM readings were bouncing around quite a bit. I called Tiny Tach and they said that that problem is a symptom of moisture migration under the transducer. He asked if I sealed that transducer after I installed it (I didn’t) /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. My tractor is at the dealer for the next 7-10 days while they try to determine why the Hydor pedal sticks intermittently /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. As soon as I get it back I will reinstall the transducer and seal it with paint. The folks at Tiny Tach are sure nice to deal with. They have a lot of patience with customers like me that sometimes do not follow directions! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes, I gave the transducer a few squirts of "ROPS Grey" after I verified that the thang was actually working...'wouldn't want the fuel lines to rust, anyway!

Keep us posted on the pedal thing...many of us are experiencing it to some degree. I've had to learn to mentally adjust for it with my foot. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Rops Gray

I found Kubota Orange at TSC, but no gray. Any chance Kryon Gray is close? I hate buying expensive,
bad paint!

I got two cans of the orange--now if the tractor were just here!

One of the first mods will be to build a grill guard.............. and paint it gray or black.

THANKS.

Re: Rops Gray

Rust-oleum makes a gray that is very close. It is just a tad lighter than the Kubota gray. Bought mine at Home Depot. If you need the number of the paint, let me know and I will post it.

The bracket that my toolbox rests on is painted with the paint (see picture)

Re: Rops Gray

I took a walk down to the garage and the Rust-Oleum paint code is 7784 Charcoal Grey. Pretty close match. If anyone else has found a closer match, please post.

THKS

I had not had as good of luck applying rustoleum, but it is durable.

Appreciate the information.
THANKS

Re: Rops Gray

Thanks for all the comments, I just installed the Tiny Tach and it turned out GREAT! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I mounted it via the large screw and used a piece of angle iron painted black. I ran the wires via the throttle cable entry through the firewall and used the picture JRW posted to wire it via the extra connector above the battery. I tied wrapped the extra wire to the wire harness in the engine. I even printed out and laminated the RPM/PTO small chart Tractorless made and put it on the key ring.

Two questions... Who makes the "Sims Cab" and can you post a picture of it in its entirety? Second question is "does the Tiny Tach read the hours in operating hours that change with engine speed like a mechanical tach will or are they running hours like the factory tach on the BX series? Thanks .... Junkman
