Table saw versus track saw

I have never had my tracks move just laying them down even on angled cuts but I do have the clamps for them. Just never use them.

Hopefully that will be the case with the track system I ordered. I'm basing my thoughts on using the Kregg track & circular saw adaptor system. It hasn't happened often....

usually when the sheet goods are dusty (my fault), I need to account for a fraction of a degree, and I've been running & gunning long enough that I'm not quit tuned into things as I should. be.

The only advantage I see to a track saw is breaking down sheet goods on a job site, where the alternative is only of those chintzy "jobsite" saws with the folding stands.

Your money would be best spent on a quality table saw (not a cheapo). Something with a nice, adjustable fence, and a solid cast iron top. Hundreds of uses for one vs a couple uses for a track saw.

My table saw, equipped with a metal cutting wheel, cuts more steel than wood. If your friend needs to use your track saw, have them buy one.

What cutting wheel did you buy?

Labeled for metal cutting. Some even indicate iron/steel or aluminum. Harbor Freight, TSC, Rural King, Lowes, Home Depot, Menards, Amazon, flea markets. I use the thin ones, less ablation, easier to run curves.

I was looking at buying a track saw. Do any of the cordless models spin as fast as a corded saw? I have a cordless circular saw and it spins slower and the cut quality isn’t as good. I would be alright with having a corded track saw since I wouldn’t be using it away from power. I don’t really want one that uses a blade smaller than 7-1/4 either.

I think the key for finish work is a fine tooth blade.

My 6.5” Ridgid cordless cuts good with a 60 tooth finish blade however, your results may vary.
