I was going to buy a 4 series tractor but after reading reviews in a few forums and on the John Deere site as well I am very hesitant. A 3 Series seems to get great reviews but I would benefit from the bigger lift of a 4.

The summary is that they are underpowered for the price IMG_1878.JPGIMG_1879.JPGIMG_1880.JPG.

I am wondering those that own the new 4 Family tractors what your impressions are.

I have a 2013 JD 4120. (43 hp) I don't do a whole lot of PTO work but I have not yet wished I had more power. Pulls a 2 bottom plow and 6.5' disk with no issues and it's a hydro to boot. This thing will bury itself if you let it. Not sure what those negative posts are about. I've been around tractors for 35 years.

Is your tractor the new T4 spec? Those are the complaints they have from what I understand. Thank you for any input.

I did have a 2002 4310 (similar to today's 3320) (32hp) and it did feel underpowered at times. I would recommend a 3520 if looking at the 3000 series.

No mine is the t3. Saw the t4 coming and bought mine before the change. They did change to yanmar engines in the t4 vs my John Deere powertech.

Yeah, all of the complaints have been about the T4 side. Maybe I need to consider buying a used T3. I just started researching tractors a month back. Is it that much difference and what year do I need to buy to be non T4?

I can't see there being much difference in power. Tractors go thru a third party testing agency to confirm HP ratings. The only complaints I hear on this website is the regen operation of the T4's. I believe all tractors over 25hp moved to T4 in 2014. Some maybe 2015

Ok so I am looking for a 2014 or earlier then. I might buy a used one they is T3 and make it easy. My issue is I am no mechanic. Also no warranty, it makes me wonder if I am better just settling for T4 but having a warranty.

That does sound promising.
