OK guys,

Got about 70 hours on the T4, I've been bad about getting in the cab to start and let her warm up. So
it was a bit chilly a couple weeks and I got up to fully check her out on startup. We'll all the lights come on
with the power up but the glow plugs never cycled. On our T2220 and our DX60 they always cycled on startup,
I checked the 60 amp fuze in the engine compartment but going to do some digging.

Also has anyone adjusted the 3 pt lift height, with our snowblower on the quick attach I only have 7" clearance
where the DX60 with the same setup was over 12" raised?

I'm trying to work with the shop manual and owners manual but what they are showing we are not finding on the
Tractor.

I am working with my dealership but trying to do the troubleshooting first if I can.

Thanks guys and gals.

RickB is the New Holland guru. I would start with the fuse. Here in the warmth of North Carolina my T cycles the glow plugs even in the 40's. As far as the lift height is concerned I would raise the draft control lever and go from there. You can also change the top link position attachment point on the tractor.

Move the pin adjustment on the right and left side Lifting Rod stirrups from one of the lower holes to one of the higher holes.

HIGHER HOLE = HIGHER LIFT.

See photos.

As far as the lift height is concerned change the inboard end of top link position attachment point on the tractor.

Good idea too. Another "move the pin to new holes" adjustment. Changing inboard Top Link position also changes gross sensitivity of your Draft Control, if installed.

What does the manual say about it? Was it hard to start?

Just spent a couple days at the local VA,

Agvg, tractor always starts right up no hesitation, the book indicates we should be getting
glow plugs working at each startup. jeff9366, I'll check on the lift arms for adjustment.

I'm going to pull the in cab fuse covers and check everything out and see if I see something
that is not in the manual.

I'll let you guys know, the dealer wants to come out but I want to try and check it out first,
they are good guys and it's harvest time.

Well,

jeff9366 No extra holes in the lift arms and left and right adjustments are as high as they go.

Got some other work today and tomorrow, I'll do some-more digging Friday.

Are there two or three holes through the Lower Links along the axis? Close in attachment of the right and left side Lifting Rod stirrups will increase lift height because lift commences from a higher initial position of the Lower Links, but may decrease Three Point Hitch lift capacity.

Sorry I am not more familiar with New Holland hardware.

If your tractor quickly starts regardless of the temperature, it's possible that the glow plug indicator light is burned out, but they are working properly.

Thumper,
If I understand correctly the T.65's and 75's (as well as others) use a grid heater not glow plugs. Maybe that's what you mean but technically speaking anyway. On mine, the light comes on just for a split second when you go one click on the key to start, blink and you'll miss it. If you do a Google search on new Holland T 4.75 grid heater the first result you see does go thru some trouble shooting for the light not coming on for a different model machine. It has some good trouble shooting steps to go thru. As another poster mentioned, the first thing to check is the grid heater fuse. My dash lights up like a F-16 on start-up so yes, a burned out light is very possible too.

On your lift issue, two things I would look at. One-the lift adjustment out by the 3-point up against the cab. Very handy to hook up implements with but if you don't ratchet it up after hooking up an implement it will not allow the lift to go to max height, it will also keep your lift & float levers from moving up to max height inside the cab. I hope this is clear as mud but look at it I'll think you'll follow. It happened to me and took me a couple hours to figure out.
Also, the three point has some linkage adjustments down underneath the 3-point. It's just a couple of nuts and an all thread rod. The nut backed off mine and the lift would not go to full height. Quick adjustment & good to go. Again, kinda hard to explain but if you look at it pretty easy to see.
I hope this helps!
Good luck,
Larry

Thumper,
I have a little better answer on the lift issue. Messick's has a very handy parts catalog for the 4.75 you can download from their website. Go to section 37-hitches & draw bars and you'll see "hydraulic lift, outside, control lever, cab." You can see how it all works & connects along with the linkage adjustments I talked about.
