I need to buy Square Baler Twine #130 but can only find #170 and up, does anyone know if there is a change in thickness between the two?
Thank you for your time.
There is a nominal change in thickness, however I found that my 24t works better with the 170# twine. I was using 130# twine but started breaking a lot of bales after they had exited the baler. I tried adjusting everything and nothing helped so we went with the heavier twine and have had good luck.
Thanks! I'm sending it my dad and he says he needs #130 or else the twine gets stuck, I dont know what he means by that but I'll let him know that you use #170, ill be seeing the baler soon so ill know what hes talking about. Thanks again.
170 is not used for round bales. 20,000/110 or 16,000/110 is round baler twine. 170 twine is a higher knot strength alternative to 130 and is used in small square balers for straw bales, or in instances where heavier bales and higher knot strength are desired.
If a baler's knotter will tie 130 twine reliably, there is no reason to think 170 twine would cause any problems or require any adjustment beyond POSSIBLY reducing the twine holder tension incrementally.
