Today i got a low charge pressure shutdown about the time I smelled hydraulic fluid. The hose from the fan motor to the right rear side of the pump is leaking. Looks hard to get to the pump connection.

A few questions:

Is there a cause for this, like relief valve failure?

Any tricks for getting to the pump connection?

I saw also that a hose from the fuel filler pipe to the top of the pump seems pretty soft. This looks like a fuel tank vent. Is this common? Easy to replace?

Your thoughts and experience would be appreciated.

The hose from fan to pump has JIC fittings to unscrew from the pump fitting. Raise the cab and place something to lay on across the steering lever panel to the top of the pump (a heavy cardboard, thin plywood, or creeper works great) then reach behind the pump and take to hose off. A fitting may have worked loose or hose reached its life span, there is a lot of heat back in there with the turbo.

That hose from fuel fill goes into top of the fuel tank. The larger hose is the fill hose, smaller one is the vent to let air out while refilling tank.

Thanks

I was worried there might be some releif valve problem or something.

That hose does carry charge pressure (about 350 - 420 psi), but if the charge relief stuck causing the hose to fail it would have given a "Charge Pressure High" code before the leak started and shut down due to low charge pressure.

Well the hose connection to the pump is easier to turn using Bobcat special tool 000001. If it saturday when the dealer is closed and if NAPA is out of this tool then you can get the pieces at a pawn shop. A Chinese 1-1/4 wrench, and a 1/2 drive socket, welded into a long shank crowfoot. It would be a sin to do this to a USA tool. I removed the fuel filler hose and fill opening, then it was a straight shot to get to the connection with tool 000001 and a 24" extension, ratchet.

Tool on the left is 000001. The tool on the right is Bobcat special tool 000002, which did not fit well.

BTW lying on the cardboard helped. If you make a tool like this ever, cut the socket so you can insert the extension from either side. Because tool is hard you must cut with a chop saw or grinder. This photo shows a view using Bobcat special tool 000001 from the engine opening, where the fuel filler hose usually is located.
