T1760

Just took delivery on a new T1760...I love it, it has 4 hours on it and is the first new thing I have ever owned. I am very mechanically inclined...the manual makes mention of a valve lash check at 300 hrs. but doesn't make mention of the clearances. I prefer to check them earlier than that and was wondering what they should be. The engine is a Kawasaki 17 hp liquid cooled V-twin. Also does any body have any FYI's about that model tractor or the engine ??? Thanks for the help in advance B

My neighbor has had one since 1996. It still has less than 300hrs, and they cut 2 acres. I cut my grass with it a week ago, and afterwards could not bare to cut with my JD LX172, so now I have a Kubota!
The one problem they had that I know of is battery acid leaked onto the throttle cable, and they had to replace the cable. That is the only problem he said he has had. I like the unit alot. We have bahaia, and the T1760 just goes right through it without a grunt. Good luck.

I don't know anything about your issue, but I want to congratulate you on your purchase of one of the best values in Kubotas lineup.

The workshop manual for that machine says .006" for the valve clearance, int. and exh. with the engine cold.

Hi,

I am also a recent T1760 owner. My unit has 1560 hrs on it, and has developed a problem with the HST. When going forwards, there is a louder than normal whining, and the torque developed is very low, to the point that even a mild slope is too much for it. In reverse, the whining is more normal, and there is plenty of torque. I changed the oil in the HST, but it made no difference. I did notice that I only got about a litre out of the HST, even though the reservoir was above the "Full Cold" mark (the owners manual states 2.4 litres).

Any ideas why it works fine in reverse, but not going forwards?
