T1510 Hyd leak at filter, Help

I just finished the 50 hr service (per owners manual) on my tractor. When removing the Hyd. Filter, I didn't notice the rock that was wedged on top of the filter until I could not figure why the filter was so hard to get off. Once I got out from under the tractor & around behind it I saw the rock (a little smaller than a golf ball) & removed it. The filter then came off easy. Now I can't seem to get the fluid leak to stop with the new filter.

first start by inspecting the filter housing for a crack from the rock. Make sure the filter gasket from the old filter came out with it and is not stuck in housing causing you to have two gaskets and a leak. Check gasket for any signs of a cut, setc. that would cause a leak. These have high pressure on them so they must be on properly and tight.

thanks dq, I checked the old filter & the gasket is on it & I have tightened the new filter as tight as possible but still it leaks a very small amount. I guess I'll order another filter & then see if I can see a crack in the housing.
Do you know if the housing is a easy replacement or not?

Just to make sure; you are talking about the Hyd. filter under operators platform. Not the HST filter on left side of engine. Both are a fairly easy change. I would think it may be under warranty.

Did you remove filter and inspect it for seal damage? If not; remove it and check for anything that may have caused the leak, and reinstall. GAsket may have been dislodged, or a piece of "rock" on gasket material.

Even if you see nothing; take filter back and explain that it won't seal properly. They may give you another filter.

Whatever you do; do not try and use any type of sealers on filter to stop leak.
