We have a derelict Syracuse Chilled Plow at the local Stickley Museum, and want to ascertain its age to determine if it's original to the property. The cross bar and moldboards say Syracuse, and I've learned that J. Deere took them over in 1910, but also understand they used the Syracuse name for years. It's very rusty, but there a couple of specks of greeen paint. It appears to be a riding, horse drawn plow with a left and right moldboard and handles and foot pedals to raise and lower the plows. I guess it is a two way plow. The seat and drawbar are missing. Attached is a photo. Does anyone have comments about the unit, and possibly its age range?

I think you have done a good job already! In days of old before Dwight gave us a super highway system many ag tools were built locally and sold locally and not distributed across the US like they are today. Differerent areas had there own groups of tools and there was little standardization from one area to another.

IH had a plow factory in Auburn NY.
