How many hours per year do you put on it? If equal or more than the hours recommended as the change interval then yes. If not, then no and change it every year regardless.

Do you use it in the winter and if so is it kept in a heated garage or is a block heater used? If you use a block heater or the tractor is already relatively warm then no, if you are cold starting it a lot in the winter then I would say yes, might not be a bad investment.

Hope this helps.

Comparing brand-name modern oil and synthetics of the same API classifications and weights.......

The main advantages to synthetics are: 1) easier cold weather starting, 2) faster lubrication in COLD weather, 3) better protection during an overheat event.

Since we don't experience ANY of those conditions, it would be a waste in our tractor (car, truck, van or suv).

As Dusty3030 says. The advantages of syn. are better flow at start up, higher shear strength under heavy load, better high temp stability,
Since I use my tractor year round and at its max capacity I use syn. Seems to run quieter and operates better in the cold.

In your area I would think the syn. would be an advantage.
