Synchronized transmission on 492 Massey

I just purchased a 492 Massey from an individual who can't locate the owners manual. I cannot figure out the synchronized shifting between gears. All I know is the high and low gears 1-3. The tractor is suppose to have 12 fwd gears and 4 reverse, all I can figure out is 6 fwd and 2 reverse, each of these on the high and low side (3 fwd high/low, 1reverse high/low) Please help!

If I remember right, there's 2 shifters on the right.the closer one to you while sitting in the seat will be you R,1,2,3. The further one will switch from high side of the range of the transmission to low when pushed towards the door one move forward and back. I'm pretty sure there's an indicator on the dash when this one changes. When that same shifter is pulled in towards the seat, forward and backwards will be high and low in the gear. Small difference In this shift.

There are the 2 shifters on the right and the indicator lights up on the dash for high and low. That still only gets me 6 forward gears, half as many as it says I am suppose to have. I know I have to shift it to what I call the empty ranged and then back to high or low to get it to actually change from ranges. I very well could be missing what you are saying too.

Think of it this way. For each gear you have a slow and a fast, plus a low and a high. So, sort of 4 ranges. There are of course 3 forward gears.

On your range selector, you have a turtle and a rabbit on once side and a "L" and a "H" on the other. So, you have Turtle1, Rabbit1, L1 and H1.
